Job Description

Responsibilities
  • We are seeking a highly skilled Solar and BESS Design Engineer to join our team. Key responsibilities include evaluating, designing, and optimizing ground and rooftop photovoltaic (PV) systems using industry-standard software tools such as Google Earth, PVSyst, Helioscope, or equivalent software.
  • Additionally, the ideal candidate will evaluate, design, and optimize battery energy storage systems using standardized processes and tools like MATLAB Simulink, Homer, or equivalent software.
  • The successful candidate will produce conceptual and detailed Solar and BESS system design drawings, including single- and three-line diagrams, general layouts, equipment arrangements, and system architecture in accordance with local codes and standards.
  • Collaboration with other major's engineers in bidding projects is also expected, where the candidate will check and review electrical technical schemes and create bidding documents.
  • Maintaining good public relations with relevant parties of engineering business, including owners, subcontractors, consultants, suppliers, etc., is a critical aspect of this role.
  • Reviewing equipment/technologies across various technical disciplines is also an essential responsibility.
  • Developing designs using advanced computer software, including PVsyst, Sunny Design, Helioscope, ETAP, MATLAB, Homer, AutoCAD, and other related software, is necessary for finalizing specifications.
  • PV simulation analysis capability with related software is a must-have skill.
  • Conducting site inspections and providing reports, attending pre/post-bidding meetings, developing specifications for Solar and battery energy storage equipment, performing related calculations to demonstrate system sizing and performance capabilities, reviewing request for proposal documents and project technical specifications, and providing priorities of work, feedback on initiatives, and establishing new focus areas to drive continuous improvement are all key responsibilities.
  • Staying updated on industry standards and regulations for Solar and BESS design is crucial for success in this role.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Qualifications
  • A Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, Systems) or equivalent, preferably with a specialization in power systems, renewable energy, and/or sustainable energy technology.
  • Familiarity with industry-standard software tools for solar and BESS design is advantageous.
  • At least 3 years working experience in a related function or professional field.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems and power distribution principles.
  • Familiarity with local building codes, electrical standards, and safety regulations in the Philippines.
  • Proficiency in English listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
  • Computer proficiency in Office (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.), PVSyst, Helioscope, ETAP, MATLAB Simulink, Homer, AutoCAD, and other related design software.
  • Proficient in designing Solar and Battery Systems.
  • Ability to perform precise engineering calculations and problem-solving.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to optimize system performance and troubleshoot issues.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work within tight deadlines.
  • Strong sense of responsibility, ambition, ability to solve problems independently, and strong ability to work under pressure.
