Job Overview

The Head of Credit Operations is responsible for creating and implementing credit risk strategies tailored to real estate transactions. This includes residential, commercial, and mixed-use properties.

This role works closely with Senior Managing Directors to align credit policies with the company's investment goals.

The ideal candidate has a strong finance background and 8-10+ years of experience in credit risk management, preferably in real estate or top financial institutions.

Responsibilities include assessing borrower creditworthiness, approving or escalating credit decisions based on risk thresholds and financial analysis.

In addition, this role monitors the performance of the credit portfolio, identifies emerging risks, and implements mitigation strategies.

Main Responsibilities
  • Credit Policy & Strategy: Develop, implement, and maintain credit risk policies and procedures tailored to real estate transactions.
  • Credit Evaluation & Approval: Lead the assessment of borrower creditworthiness, including individuals, developers, and institutional clients.
  • Portfolio Risk Management: Monitor the performance of the credit portfolio, identify emerging risks, and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Team Leadership: Manage and mentor a team of credit analysts and underwriters.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with legal, finance, and property management teams to ensure smooth deal execution and risk alignment.
Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics, or related field (MBA or CPA preferred).
  • Graduated cum laude or better from university is preferred.
  • 8–10+ years of experience in credit risk management, preferably in real estate or top financial institutions.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. lending regulations and real estate market dynamics.
  • Proficiency in credit scoring models, financial analysis, and risk assessment tools.
