Job Title

A professional opportunity is available for an experienced medical coding trainer. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in revenue cycle management, E/M and procedure coding.

About the Job
  • This is a full-time position that requires the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

The selected candidate will be responsible for developing modules for medical coding and billing training, maintaining knowledge of ICD 10 CM, ICD 10 PCS, CPT and HCPCS coding guidelines, and providing training and review for onboarding coders and refresher training for tenured coders.

Responsibilities
  1. Develop curriculum and training syllabus related to coding and billing training programs.
  2. Maintain knowledge of ICD 10 CM, ICD 10 PCS, CPT and HCPCS coding guidelines.
  3. Update existing training modules.
  4. Develop and produce materials for inpatient medical coding exercises, assessment, and qualifying examination.
  5. Consolidate coder scores from quizzes, exams and assessments and present consolidated data during weekly meetings.
  6. Maintain certifications of the staff by providing continuing education units.
  7. Provide training and review for onboarding coders and refresher training for tenured coders.
  8. Disseminate changes and updates in guidelines and rules.
  9. Collaborate with all workgroups to resolve issues that impact internal and external customers.
  10. Possess knowledge of, understanding of, and compliance with all policies and procedures.
  11. Participate in monthly calibration training.
  12. Create assessments to check learnings from calibration training.
  13. Consolidate coder scores from calibration assessment and present consolidated data to operations.
  14. Assist QA Supervisor and QATM with account launch for launching accounts.
  15. Provide support and feedback for TNA, RCA, and educational note creation for QA Team.
  16. Audit QA staff to monitor their respective coding and auditing accuracy.
Requirements
  • Graduate of any Medical or Allied Medical course or has equivalent work experience.
  • CPC certification from AAPC or CCS certification from AHIMA.
  • Proficient with Revenue Cycle Management, E/M and Procedure Coding.
  • Ability to work in a team fostered environment and have the willingness to adjust to changing job responsibilities, shifting schedules, new procedures and unexpected workloads and stresses.
  • Possess strong verbal, written communication, interpersonal and analytical skills.
  • Willingness and flexibility to work extended hours.
  • Assertive self-starter who can work independently, yet function in a team environment.
  • Ability to plan well and prioritize work and maintain calmness under pressure.
  • An understanding and strict adherence to all regulations.
