Job Title: Freelance Draftsman

As a skilled freelance draftsperson, you will play a pivotal role in collaborating with engineering partners, providing exceptional customer and permitting support, and maintaining organized documentation. This is an exciting opportunity to work remotely.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough research and recreate plats or surveys using GIS software, develop site layout options, and ensure complete and accurate agency submittals following OR and WA permitting procedures.
  • Generate lot-specific drawings, revise existing plan documents, and organize work for computer access.
  • Provide timely on-site support to builders, expedite permitting by liaising with city/county staff, and produce address-specific plans within set deadlines.
  • Update and manage the plan library, create new plan designs from schematics to the design development stage, and execute SPR drafting tasks.
  • Field questions, update previously distributed work promptly, and support the Permit Coordinator with submittal materials and questions.
  • Communicate with and analyze engineering partners' work for accuracy and value engineering, holding partners accountable to agreed-upon timelines for completion.

Requirements:

  • A bachelor's degree in the related field; an associate's degree is also acceptable.
  • 2-5 years of drafting experience or equivalent.
  • Residential construction or home remodeling drafting experience is required.
  • Familiarity with building codes and permitting standards in WA and OR is preferred.
  • Ability to conduct internet research and familiarity with local GIS.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
  • Strong customer service skills and ability to build rapport.
  • Professional demeanor and ability to collaborate with various stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
