Job Summary

This role involves working on challenging projects and contributing to the company's mission to advance open source technology. It requires a deep understanding of security principles, threat modeling, and vulnerability response.


Key Responsibilities
  • Defining, implementing, and documenting new security features
  • Leading security-focused initiatives within product engineering teams
  • Analyzing, fixing, and testing vulnerabilities in open source software
Requirements
  • Exceptional academic track record from both high school and university
  • Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or STEM, or an alternative narrative about your path
  • Track record of exceeding expectations
  • Thorough understanding of common categories of security vulnerabilities and how to fix them
  • Knowledge of modern software engineering techniques
  • Familiarity with open source development tools and methodologies
  • Skill in one or more programming languages such as C, C++, Python, Go, Rust, Java, Ruby, PHP, or JavaScript/Typescript
  • Experience as a security champion
  • Driving security within a wider SSDLC process
  • Professional written and spoken English
  • Experience with Linux (Debian or Ubuntu preferred)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, curiosity, flexibility, and accountability
  • Passion, thoughtfulness, and self-motivation
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Results-oriented with personal drive to meet commitments
Optional Skills We Also Value
  • Clear communication with team and community members
  • Experience working with the Linux kernel
  • Security certifications and knowledge of FIPS and/or Common Criteria
  • OVAL (Open Vulnerability Assessment Language) experience
  • Cryptographic modules such as OpenSSL and Libgcrypt knowledge
  • Low-level Linux cryptography APIs knowledge
  • Able to learn quickly
  • Performance engineering experience
