Data Platform Engineer Job Description

FPT Smart Cloud seeks a Data Platform Engineer to design, build, and scale mission-critical platform services for next-generation AI and cloud applications.

About the Role

The ideal candidate will collaborate with our team to develop technical architecture for Cloud Data Platform services, including data ingestion, processing, storage, query, visualization, security, and governance.

  • Implement and integrate Data Platform components: Kafka, NiFi, Airflow, Spark, Flink, Iceberg, Trino, Superset, dbt...
  • Build and operate CI/CD systems and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Helm, ArgoCD...).
  • Research and propose new technologies to optimize performance and enhance the product.

Job Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Product Development & Research
    • Designing technical architecture for Cloud Data Platform services.
    • Implementing and integrating Data Platform components.
    • Building and operating CI/CD systems and Infrastructure as Code.
    • Researching and proposing new technologies to optimize performance and enhance the product.
  • Operations & Managed Services for Customers
    • Supporting deployment, configuration, and optimization of Cloud Data Platform for customers.
    • Maintaining monitoring, alerting, and logging systems.
    • Troubleshooting incidents and ensuring service SLA compliance.
Requirements

To be considered for this role, candidates must have:

  • 3–5 years of experience in DataOps, DevOps, Platform Engineer, or Data Engineer roles.
  • Proficiency in Kubernetes, Docker, and microservices architecture.
  • Hands-on experience deploying or operating at least some Data Platform services (e.g., Kafka, Airflow, Spark).
  • Strong scripting skills (Python or Bash).
  • Experience with CI/CD and GitOps (GitLab CI, Jenkins, or ArgoCD).
  • Basic understanding of Data Pipelines and Data Engineering concepts.
