Cargo Underwriter

Job Description:

The Cargo Underwriter is responsible for the day-to-day servicing of accounts, including reviewing assigned cases to provide underwriting decisions based on company guidelines and ensuring customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Assist Group Heads in developing and implementing business plans and strategies.
2. Review and update Open Marine Policies' rates, terms, and insuring conditions as required.
3. Examine submitted documents for completeness and recommend acceptance or rejection of risks.
4. Evaluate new business risks in accordance with standards to ensure profitable growth.
5. Prepare statistical data and reports to support management decision-making.
6. Build business relationships with clients and market our services.
7. Control and maintain registers for reported claims on Cargo business.
8. Monitor and review underwriting standards procedures and checklist.
9. Provide technical assistance to the entire workflow.
10. Contribute to continuous quality improvement processes.
11. Support the achievement of operational objectives for the underwriting function and/or business unit.

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

• A graduate degree in any 4-year business course.
• At least 2-3 years of related work experience as a Marine Underwriter.
• Completion of the Basic Non-Life Insurance Course or Intermediate Course on Marine Insurance at the IIAP, with Advanced Course on Marine as an advantage.
• Experience in dealing with customers and clients.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Ability to analyze data and use it for decision-making.
