Job Overview

Mechanism Ventures seeks a skilled Operations Engineer to build and optimize web interfaces, combining technical expertise with an operational mindset to deliver projects that directly influence product, growth, and operations.

The ideal candidate will take on complex initiatives involving learning and applying AI technologies in the startup space, researching and developing tools for automation, analysis, and workflow improvement. This position offers significant opportunities for growth, learning, and meaningful impact across multiple areas of the business.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Build, test, and optimize front-end interfaces, including PDPs, dashboards, and internal tools.
  • Integrate front-end solutions with APIs, databases, and automation tools.
  • Work to offload critical initiatives from Practice Area Leads and from our portfolio companies.
  • Lead AI implementations and experimentation using tools like OpenAI, MidJourney, Zapier, Airtable, etc.
  • Analyze data and present insights as actionable recommendations.
  • Transform and clean-up data using SQL and sometimes Python.
  • Conduct usability testing and create website mockups.
  • Support additional projects as needed across Mechanism and our portfolio companies.
Requirements:
  • Proficiency in front-end development and design (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, plus experience with modern frameworks).
  • Strong UI/UX sensibility with the ability to create intuitive and responsive designs.
  • Comfort integrating front-end applications with APIs, databases, and automation tools.
  • Strong analytical skills and enthusiasm for data-driven decision-making.
  • Familiarity with AI tools like OpenAI, MidJourney, Zapier, Airtable, etc.
  • Familiarity with SQL in accessing and modifying databases.
  • Proficiency in data visualization using Tableau, Looker, Power BI, or libraries like D3.js and Chart.js.
  • Clear and effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time, and handle multiple projects effectively.
  • Eagerness to learn new tools and technologies.
  • Ability to convey complex concepts and ideas in simple terms.
  • Strong preference towards candidates with an Engineering or Computer Science / IT degree.
