Accounting Role Overview

The ideal candidate will be responsible for handling various accounting-related duties, including tax return preparation, document collection, bookkeeping, research, reconciliation, and budgeting.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare personal and business tax returns by following a specific order of file organization and utilizing firm templates for auto, sch D, foreclosures, etc.
  • Review client books and make adjustments for year-end, recognize M-1 Adjustments, prepare depreciation schedules, uniform capitalization work papers, and construction client work papers like completed contract/percentage of completion.
  • Conduct independent research on necessary laws before submitting returns to reviewers.
  • Prepare tax projections and planning tasks for clients, including determining tax liability, salary requirements, payroll liabilities, and estimated payments.
  • Handle IRS and state agency correspondences, teleconferences, and prepare payment plan paperwork, Powers of Attorney, S Elections, SS-4, and State registrations.
  • Perform external bookkeeping and relevant tasks, such as adjusting balance sheets after-tax returns, handling year-end adjustments, providing QuickBooks support, collecting tax return information, and reviewing monthly and quarterly bookkeeping.
  • Meet with the tax manager to review priorities, budgets, and weekly work plans.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance-related field.
  • Proficiency in tax and accounting software/tools, such as Microsoft Word, Excel, QuickBooks, CCH Access/ProFX Tax, Intelliconnect Tax Research, Intelliforms, Tax Tools, CFS Payroll, Practice Management Time Entry, Accounting Research, PFX Tax Planning, Proseries Tax Planner, CCH Engagement External Bookkeeper.
  • Certified public accountant (CPA) license is advantageous.
  • Excellent grasp of Microsoft 365 applications.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Aptitude in data management, analytics, and reporting preparation.
  • Ability to function independently in an autonomous environment.
