Role of Tax Compliance Associate

East West Banking Corporation seeks a Tax Compliance Associate to join our Finance Team in BGC.

This position requires conducting regular and spot audits of units outlined in the Department's annual audit plan, as well as special or fraud investigations as assigned. The incumbent must ensure that all audit reviews and processes adhere to established internal auditing standards, including those set by the Institute of Internal Auditors International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing, regulatory authorities, and relevant codes of ethics.

Responsibilities of this role include:

  • Evaluating the Bank's compliance with National Internal Revenue Code, issuances by the Department of Finance, Bureau of Internal Revenue, Bureau of Local Government Finance, Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas Manual of Regulations for Banks, Banks Policies and Procedures Manual, Inter-Office Memoranda, Service Level Agreements, other government agencies, relevant issuances, and tax-related legislations.
  • Ensuring risk management in Tax disputes and assessments arising from failure to comply with tax laws, rules, and regulations, interest, penalties, and surcharges for delayed and erroneous BIR filings/reports.

Qualifications:

  • At least two years in tax compliance or reporting function.
  • Preferably with experience in banking industry.
  • Graduate of Bachelor's Degree in Accountancy.
  • Being a Certified Public Accountant is an advantage.
  • Knowledgeable in tax laws, regulations, and financial accounting policies and procedures. Knowledge of MS Office applications and Accounting Systems.
  • Knowledge of bank products and services.
  • Proficient communication skills.
