Job Description

This role is focused on collaborating with our lead developer to implement backend features and functionality. The ideal candidate will excel at taking clear requirements and directions, then translating them into high-quality code that follows established conventions and patterns.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implementing backend services and features using Node.js and JavaScript based on provided specifications
  • FOLLOWING established coding conventions, patterns, and architectural guidelines
  • Conducting thorough manual QA and testing of implemented features before submission
  • Reading and understanding detailed requirements, asking clarifying questions when needed
  • Collaborating with the lead engineer to ensure seamless integration with existing systems
  • Writing clean, maintainable code that adheres to engineering standards
  • Participating in code reviews with a focus on learning and consistency
  • Debugging and troubleshooting issues methodically and thoroughly
  • Documenting implementation details and testing procedures as needed

Required Skills and Qualifications

The successful candidate will possess the following skills and qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience with JavaScript and Node.js
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to code quality
  • Excellent ability to follow established coding styles and conventions
  • Proven track record of implementing features based on written requirements and specifications
  • Experience with manual QA and testing methodologies
  • Strong reading comprehension and the ability to ask clarifying questions
  • Experience with databases (PostgreSQL or similar)
  • Self-motivated and effective in a remote-work environment
  • Bonus: Experience with AI and LLM tools like Claude Code
