Australia Senior Tax Accountant Role


Overview:


This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity for a skilled tax professional to join our team as an Australia Senior Tax Accountant. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting clients by completing financial and management accounting reports, preparing compliance jobs for the trial balance stage, and reviewing client-prepared BAS/IAS.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist clients with preparation of financial and management accounting reports
  • Prepare compliance jobs for the trial balance stage
  • Review client-prepared BAS/IAS and assist with amendment/correction of the system
  • Identify franking account issues and resolve basic problems arising in client financial statements
  • Prepare and analyse accounts, income tax returns, company annual returns, Business Activity Statements, Fringe Benefit Tax returns, and notices of assessment

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • At least 5 years of experience with a Chartered Accounting Firm
  • Experience with Australian accounting, taxation, and clients
  • Expertise in preparing financial statements and annual tax returns for multiple clients
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Suite, including Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook
  • Working knowledge of computerised accounting packages, i.e. Xero and MYOB
  • Understanding of tax laws, state taxes, and duties relating to resident taxpayers (e.g. CGT, GST, Land Tax, Payroll Tax, general income tax)
  • Comprehension of accounting and taxation concepts and a willingness to develop practical application of this knowledge
  • Exposure to management responsibilities and mentoring of junior staff
