Compensation Management Specialist

This role involves overseeing the end-to-end compensation process for approximately 600 multi-state union and non-union employees. The Compensation Management Specialist is responsible for ensuring timely, accurate compensation processing in accordance with collective bargaining agreements, internal policies, and all applicable federal, state, and local laws.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Audit and accurately process bi-weekly compensation for multi-state employees and weekly off-cycle payrolls (e.g., Davis-Bacon prevailing wages).
  • Process and verify employee timecards, rate changes, retroactive adjustments, bonuses (including gross-ups), and final pay calculations.
  • Ensure approvals of employee time and pay exceptions by managers before processing.
  • Process and verify deductions (e.g., benefits, union dues, garnishments, auto allowance, Direct Bill payments).
  • Maintain W-2s, year-end filings, and state tax withholdings setup.
  • Submit and audit files for DailyPay, Purchasing Power, and other compensation-related programs.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of federal and state compensation and leave laws, labor regulations per FLSA, and prevailing wage requirements.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, or a related field and at least 5 years of hands-on compensation processing experience in a multi-jurisdiction environment. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills, ability to manage sensitive information, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and proficiency with compensation systems (e.g., Paycom) and Microsoft Office Suite are required.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of hands-on compensation processing experience in a multi-jurisdiction environment.
  • Strong understanding of compensation laws, accounting principles, and tax regulations.
