Role Purpose

DP and/or MYP Language and Literature teacher. The L&L teacher will develop a curriculum consistent with the MYP and/or DP framework and L&L Subject Guide and will create units of inquiry relating to the various L&L subjects. This position supports and implements the learning program in accordance with the policies and philosophy of NEOM EC-12 under the supervision and direction of the Divisional Head/Assistant Head of School and the Head of School.

Key Accountabilities & Activities

Key Responsibilities

Curriculum Delivery:

  • Develop and implement engaging lessons aligned with the MYP Language & Literature framework.
  • Cultivate language proficiency, literary analysis, and effective communication skills.

Differentiated Instruction:

  • Tailor teaching methods to accommodate diverse learning needs, ensuring an inclusive classroom environment.
  • Encourage creative expression and critical thinking through language and literature.

Literary Analysis:

  • Facilitate in-depth literary analysis discussions and activities.
  • Guide students in exploring various genres, authors, and literary devices.

Assessment and Feedback:

  • Develop and administer assessments to measure and support student understanding and progress.
  • Provide constructive feedback to support students in enhancing their language and literary skills.

Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with colleagues to integrate interdisciplinary approaches and create a cohesive learning experience.
  • Foster positive relationships with other MYP teachers and contribute to cross-subject connections.

Professional Development:

  • Stay updated on educational trends and advancements in Language & Literature education.
  • Possess and demonstrate experience in the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (DP).

Parent and Community Engagement:

  • Communicate with parents regarding student progress and involvement in language and literature-related activities.
  • Collaborate with the community to enhance the language and literature learning experience.

Background, Skills & Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Educational Background:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Education, Literature, English, or a related field.

Teaching Experience:

  • Proven experience as a Language & Literature teacher, preferably within an IB MYP framework.
  • Experience and/or understanding of the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program (DP).

Content Knowledge:

  • In-depth understanding of language structure, literature analysis, and effective communication.
  • Ability to inspire a love for literature and language arts.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Strong collaboration and communication skills for effective teamwork.
  • Experience working with diverse learning needs and creating an inclusive environment.

Curriculum Development:

  • Expertise in curriculum development based on the International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Program (MYP) and Diploma Program (DP) frameworks.

Assessment and Reporting:

  • Proficient in developing and administering assessments; ability to report on student progress.

Professional Development and Adaptability:

  • Commitment to continuous professional development and staying updated on educational trends.
  • Adaptability to integrate new teaching methodologies and approaches.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Education, Literature, English, or a related field.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Specialization or additional certification in Language & Literature education.
  • Previous experience teaching within an IB MYP and/or DP frameworks.
  • Previous experience teaching within an IB MYP framework.
