Verita s Finance Specialist will lead, manage, and provide guidance to Verita in financial statement preparation, routine bookkeeping and accounting of all transactions including critical monthly accrual of revenue and expenses, financial reporting requirements internally and to its parent company, preparation and monitoring of revenue and expense budgets, and controllership over travel and entertainment and other Verita s controllable expenses.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Handle the daily/monthly bookkeeping/accounting of all transactions.
  2. Monitor, prepare and oversee proper monthly accrual of earned revenue, incurred expenses, and other income so that a proper matching of income and expenses is achieved. Manage the corresponding monthly reversal of journal entries and maintain accuracy of the process.
  3. Liaise with parent company Willis Towers Watson s (WTW) finance department in connection with expenses that are cross allocated to Verita (example rent, professional/consulting expenses, etc.).
  4. Prepare monthly trial balance, interim income statement, balance sheet and cash flow statement.
  5. Handle Verita s monthly financial statements preparation and reporting to (1) Verita s senior management and (2) WTW.
  6. Working with Verita senior management, monitor and oversee travel and entertainment expenses and other Verita s controllable expenses.
  7. Conduct research, provide guidance and expert opinion on the proper accounting treatment of non-standard transactions or insurance programs. Liaise with WTW CFO office and/or Deloitte regarding technical accounting matters and difference of accounting opinions.
  8. Assist underwriters and underwriting assistant in connection with technical financial accounting matters affecting a transaction and questions/projects that may require allocation of premium amounts among various insured locations or business units.

Other:

  1. The successful candidate will be provided with training and familiarization with Verit a s business, processes, and workflows.
  2. Working schedule/hours: New York City work hours.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor s degree in commerce or another business-related field.
  2. CPA designation preferred but not required.
  3. Knowledge of GAAP and/or IFRS.
  4. At least 4 years experience in financial reporting, finance/accounting operations or financial auditing.
  5. Proficiency in MS Office Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  6. Excellent written and verbal communication skills independent-minded and possesses leadership skills team player.
