Job Summary

This position is responsible for administering, supervising and reviewing internal legal matters of the organization. Duties include the coordination and administration of contracts, the maintenance of company's rules and procedures and preparation of materials presented to the organization. Responsibilities include handing or assisting in the handling of the organization's litigation, of legal briefs,submission of such in time, follow-up and monitor pending cases, coordinate cases (internal and external).

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Performs consultation, advisory, and/or trial work, and carries out the legal processes necessary to affect the rights, privileges, and obligations of the organization.Â
  2. Studies Constitution, statutes, ordinances and decisions of judicial and_quasi-judicial bodies.
  3. Gathers evidence and information for management decision making:
  4. Prepares and reviews various legal instruments and documents, such as contracts, leases, licenses, purchases, sales, real estate, etc.
  5. Examines legal data to determine advisability of defending or prosecuting lawsuits.
  6. Examines material, such as advertisements, publications, etc., for legal implications, advising officials of proposed legislation that might affect the organization. Applies for copyrights or registration of the organization's products, processes, devices, and trademarks, advising whether to initiate or defend lawsuits.
  7. Conducts pre-trial preparations and defends the organization in lawsuits.
  8. Advises officials on tax matters, government regulations, and/or legal rights.
  9. Represents the company before quasi-judicial or administrative agencies of the government.
  10. Interprets laws, rulings, and regulations for individuals and businesses.
  11. Provides advices concerning transactions of business involving internal affairs, stockholders, directors, officers, and corporate relations with the general public.
  12. Â Â Acts as agent of the organization in various transactions.
  13. Confers with colleagues with specialty in areas of law to establish and verify basis for legal personnel.
  14. Ensures that all legal cases are attended on time with precision.
  15. Submits monthly reports on progress of all pending cases.
  16. Coordinates with internal end-users on the progress of legal cases.
  17. Prepares business contacts, pay taxes, settle labor disputes, and administer other legal matters.
  18. Â Attends all meetings regarding legal issues as requested.
  19. Â Â Perform other necessary functions and duties related to her position.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

QUALIFICATION

  1. Academic - LL.B. or JD from an accredited law school; in good standing with any relevant bar association.
  2. Experience -Â Â At least 2-3 years extensive experience as an drafting attorney skills; in law firm, corporation or both; strong negotiating and drafting skills; IT literate - Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) to intermediate level; Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, with ability to influence at all levels across the organization.Â

Knowledge of law pertaining to educational institutions, especially in the area of contracts, employee relations (workers' compensation, Insurance, labor), students, faculty and liability preferred.

  • Monday - Friday (48 hours a week)
