Operational Risk Management Officer

Job Description

The Operational Risk Management Officer provides management with sound advice, guidance and oversight across the execution of the Operational Risk Management (ORM) Framework for the Bank. The position and the role requires the incumbent to have the ability to identify, assess, monitor operational risks through effective assessment and report enterprise-wide risk to Management and Board. The Officer should assist in the development of appropriate mitigation strategies and controls design for each of the risks identified across the bank.

Specifically:

1. Support the development, design and implementation of the operational risk management framework, procedure and system to ensure it apt to the size, complexity of the business needs and requirements of the Bank.

2. Support the formulation and updating of guidance, policies and procedures relating to operational risk management of the Bank.

3. Implementation and execution of ORM tools (e.g., Incident Reporting, Key Risk Indicators, Risk and Control Assessment, Issue Management Framework);New products/process and Services Risk Assessment of Business and Functional units in line with the ORM Framework.

4. Partner with 1st Line of Defense Business and Functions in the execution of the ORM Framework to bring escalated operational risk exposures back to within approved risk appetite. In additional, work with Business and Functional Units in reviewing Risk Treatment plans and ensure these address open gaps and are sustainable solutions. This will include recommending best practices to the Business and Functional units in managing their operational risks.

5. Coordinate and collaborate with 2nd Line of Defence and 3rd Line of Defence control groups on operational risk related matters.

6. Promote operational risk awareness and culture across the Bank by conducting focused learning sessions, and/or ORM training.

7. Appraise and escalated identified risks or issues to the Team Lead, ORM Head, Risk Owners, and Chief Risk Officer, where relevant.

8. Create ORM-related reporting, management information presentation materials needed for Senior Management and Operational Risk Management Committee (ORMC)/Board reporting.

9. Support the team in the overall preparation and management of ORMC meetings and/or other management meetings as needed.

10. In the absence of the Team Lead or ORM Head, represent the Division in varying capacities and purpose, to the various committees of the Bank and other committees which may be assigned by the ORM Head.

11. Assist the team in updating write–ups and carrying out any required internal/external reports and assessment.

12. Perform other tasks and special projects as may be assigned by the Team Lead or ORM Head.
