Nurse Attendant

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Performs various patient care activities and related non-professional services necessary in caring for the personal needs and comfort of patients.

Answers signal lights and bells to determine patients’ needs.

Bathes, dresses, and undresses patients and assists with personal hygiene to increase their comfort and well-being.

May serve and collect food trays , feed patients requiring help, and provide between-meal nourishment and fresh drinking water, when indicated.

Transports patients to treatment units, using wheelchair or wheeled carriage, or assists them to walk.

Drapes patients for examinations and treatments; remains with patients, performing such duties as holding instruments and adjusting lights.

Takes and records temperatures, pulse, respiration rates, and food intake and output, as directed.

May apply ice bags and hot water bottles.

Gives alcohol rubs.

Reports all unusual conditions or reactions to nurse in charge.
