The Operations Manager will be responsible for overseeing the local operations team covering a range of domestic supply chain logistics and import/export shipment workflows. The person will have a strong understanding of domestic logistics such as warehousing and trucking operations and ideally also some experience in import/export supply chain activities that will support CZ’s Food Ingredients, Packaging, and Agri-Products flows in the Philippines. 

Previous experience within other areas of logistics would be an advantage, in addition to being able to demonstrate good organization skills, being able to lead and develop a team, and an ability to communicate with members of different cultures and backgrounds from other offices and other departments, to coordinate regional workload and resolve issues as and when required. 

Tasks & Responsibilities:
  • Plan and delegated workload and responsibilities within the Operations Team to execute a variety of supply chain flows including but not limited to import & export trading (containers/breakbulk/bulk) shipments, domestic warehousing, and trucking deliveries.
  • Liaising with Local and Regional Trading, Finance, and Trade Finance Heads to plan for organise smooth execution of inter-team workflows, especially where any supplier payments or client receivables require bank funding. 
  • Work closely with Local and Regional Heads of Trading to plan for and allocate resources for existing and new business flows. 
  • Communicate with Regional Operations Managers to coordinate inter-office execution workflows. 
  • Join execution calls with Singapore and/or Regional teams where required. 
  • To train and uphold team members' compliance with global policies, workflow standards & usage of our in-house system, Suite. 
  • To help with troubleshooting and resolving any operational execution or system issues that may arise.
  • From time to time participate in Group or Regional Committee meetings to provide two-way feedback to improve the company’s Operations excellence. 
  • The Operations Manager shall also be able to carry out post-trade contract activities such as the day-to-day execution of physical contracts concluded by the regional and local trading teams. This involves planning shipments/deliveries to payment collection, including some of these processes: 
  • Have a strong understanding of how to utilize our in-house system, Suite to create, process, and record all information and documentation related to shipments and deliveries. 
  • Instructing & appointing surveyors at loading and discharging port(s).
  • Managing the payment of suppliers, freight invoices, and any other costs as well as managing customer receivables liaising closely with the Finance and Trade Finance team.
  • Follow up on customers’ claims and other shipment or delivery-related disputes working closely with traders for a resolution. 
  • Planning and coordinating local deliveries with suppliers/buyers, warehouses, and trucks/logistic providers. 
  • Monitor stock forecasts received from the Client to actual volumes delivered per week/ per month. 
  • Changes in the business may occasionally require alterations in this job description and these will be agreed with the post holder as appropriate.
 About you:We are looking for someone with the following skillset and attributes:  Essential: 
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a managerial position within domestic logistics, supply chain or shipping operations fields. 
  • Some exposure/experience in international commodities import/export trade and shipping logistics (i.e. container shipments or bulk shipments experience) would be preferable. 
  • Bachelor’s Degree and/or Professional Certificates in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business, Maritime or related disciplines 
  • Team player with strong work ethics, communication & organizational skills 
  • Fast learner and able to work under pressure and deadlines 
  • Ability to act with integrity when dealing with confidential matters 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint 
  • Excellent written and verbal proficiency in English and local language 
 Desirable: 
  • Experience in RSA / SAOL / Sugar No. 11 rules and regulations and Incoterms. 
  • Experience in Letter of Credit negotiation and UCP, ISBP rules.
