Assistant Surveyor

Assist in the following:Land Surveying:
- Conduct field surveys to measure land contours, boundaries, and elevation changes.
- Use survey equipment such as Total Stations, GPS, and level instruments to collect accurate data.
- Establish property boundaries and prepare boundary survey maps.
- Measure land area and record topographic data essential for the development project.
- Analyze survey data to prepare maps and technical drawings for development planning.
- Prepare topographic, boundary, and construction surveys.
- Interpret and apply land development regulations to ensure compliance with local zoning laws and property rights.
- Collaborate with engineers, architects, and urban planners to determine the most effective layout for the development project.
- Provide survey data for designing roads, drainage systems, utilities, and other infrastructure.
- Ensure that land surveys comply with local, state, and federal regulations, including zoning, environmental, and safety requirements.
- Assist in obtaining necessary permits and approvals for the development.
- Coordinate with land developers, contractors, and other professionals to ensure proper implementation of survey results during the construction phase.
- Review and update survey data as construction progresses.
- Prepare survey reports and provide recommendations for any issues encountered during the survey process.
- Maintain accurate records of surveys, reports, and maps for future reference.
- Stay updated on the latest surveying technologies and software, such as AutoCAD, GIS, and surveying equipment, to improve data collection and analysis efficiency.
- Communicate with clients, developers, and project stakeholders to provide progress updates and address concerns related to land development surveys.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Education: A degree or diploma in Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience: Prior experience in land surveying or land development projects (typically 2–5 years).
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency with surveying instruments (e.g., Total Stations, GPS systems, digital levels).
- Strong knowledge of CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D).
- Familiarity with GIS (Geographical Information Systems) is beneficial.
- Knowledge of Regulations: Understanding of land development laws, zoning regulations, environmental laws, and construction processes.
- Attention to Detail: Ability to work accurately and pay close attention to details.
- Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills for effective reporting and collaboration.
Working Conditions:
- Fieldwork in various weather conditions and terrains.
- May involve long hours, especially during project deadlines.
- Work may involve both indoor office settings (for analysis, mapping, and report preparation) and outdoor locations (for data collection and site surveys).
