Director of Strategic Communications

The Strategic Communications Director is a leadership and people managing role in Storyscope that works closely and collaborates with all other departmental team leads and members in the development of communication campaigns and various creative requirements.
The Strategic Communications Director will spearhead the creative vision for client campaigns and projects, blending compelling storytelling with innovative PR and communication strategies. This role involves shaping narratives that enhance brand reputation, foster audience engagement, and meet clients' public relations and communication objectives. The Strategic Communications Director will lead a cross-functional creative team, ensuring alignment with brand goals while delivering impactful, multi-platform campaigns.
The Strategic Communications Director should also be able to contribute to the Agency's short-term and long-term growth including working on business directives, aligning creative outputs with business goals, and ensuring the agency remains at the forefront of innovation in the PR and communications landscape.
Functions and Responsibilities- Campaign Conceptualization and Development
- Develop Unique Campaign Concepts: Brainstorm and generate innovative ideas for multi-channel PR and communications campaigns that elevate brand visibility, drive engagement, and align with strategic goals.
- Oversee Creative Strategy: Collaborate with the account teams and clients to understand objectives, target audiences, and brand values to guide the creative strategy.
- Ensure Messaging Consistency: Craft and oversee messaging that resonates with stakeholders and aligns with brand tone and values across press releases, social media, events, and digital content.
- Creative Leadership and Team Management
- Inspire and Mentor Strategic Communications Team: Guide, motivate, and mentor a team of strategists to produce exceptional work.
- Provide Constructive Feedback: Review and provide feedback on all creative deliverables, ensuring alignment with agency standards and client expectations.
- Foster a Collaborative Environment: Promote collaboration within the team and across departments to bring diverse perspectives to the creative process.
- Client Communication and Relationship Building
- Present Creative Concepts: Lead client presentations to pitch creative ideas, explain the rationale behind concepts, and build strong client relationships.
- Act as the Creative Point of Contact: Serve as the primary creative liaison for key clients, ensuring their vision is translated effectively into impactful campaigns.
- Respond to Client Feedback: Work with account management teams to make necessary adjustments to campaigns based on client feedback, while upholding the creative integrity of the work.
- Strategic Planning and Brand Development
- Align Creative with Brand Strategy: Ensure that creative outputs reinforce the client's brand identity, positioning, and strategic objectives.
- Identify Market Trends: Stay updated on industry trends, new technologies, and audience preferences to incorporate fresh ideas into campaigns.
- Develop Long-Term Creative Vision: Lead the creative vision for each client, crafting both short-term and long-term brand-building strategies.
- Narrative Development and Brand Storytelling
- Shape Brand Narratives: Develop overarching brand stories that build trust, credibility, and emotional connection with audiences.
- Tailor Messaging for Stakeholders: Create messages and narratives that resonate with key stakeholders, including customers, investors, media, and employees.
- Integrate Multimedia Storytelling: Leverage video, social media, content creators, media, advertising, and other formats to amplify the reach and impact of campaigns.
- Crisis and Reputation Management Support
- Lead Creative Responses in Crisis: Collaborate with PR teams to craft compelling, clear communication strategies during crises.
- Build Resilient Brand Stories: Design proactive campaigns that strengthen brand resilience and credibility in the eyes of the public.
- Production Oversight
- Supervise Production: Oversee the production process, from photo and video shoots to final editing, ensuring all elements meet the highest quality standards.
- Ensure High-Quality Deliverables: Oversee the production of creative assets, such as video content, press kits, and event visuals, ensuring they align with campaign objectives.
- Contribute to Agency Management and Growth
- Strategic Planning: Collaborate with the management team to align creative strategies with the agency's overall business goals and growth objectives.
- Drive Innovation: Identify and propose new creative services, tools, or methodologies that can enhance the agency's competitive edge.
- Fulfill Business Directives: Work closely with leadership to support the agency's short-term and long-term growth plans, ensuring creative contributions align with revenue goals and market positioning.
- Represent the Creative Division: Serve as the creative voice in management discussions, helping to shape agency policies, practices, and client acquisition strategies.
- Trendspotting and Innovation
- Stay Ahead of Trends: Keep a pulse on PR industry trends, cultural movements, and emerging technologies to incorporate fresh ideas into client work.
- Leverage Influencers and Media: Incorporate influencer collaborations, media storytelling, and event-driven campaigns into the creative mix.
Education: Bachelor's degree in Communications, Advertising, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing or a related field. Advanced degrees are a plus.
Experience:
- 5+ years in a creative leadership role, preferably within a PR agency or integrated communications firm.
- Proven track record of delivering impactful PR campaigns and building strong client relationships.
Skills:
- Exceptional storytelling and messaging skills, with a focus on PR objectives.
- Strong understanding of media relations, public perception management, and stakeholder engagement.
- Expertise in integrating traditional PR with digital platforms and influencer marketing.
