About the role
We are looking for an Operations Technician to support the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of our hydropower plant. In this role, you will monitor plant equipment, perform routine inspections, assist with startup and shutdown activities, and respond to operational issues to help ensure continuous power generation. You will also carry out basic maintenance tasks, maintain accurate operational records, and work closely with the operations and maintenance teams to ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
Key responsibilities
- Operate and monitor turbines, generators, auxiliary systems, and local control panels.
- Monitor plant performance and record hourly/daily operational parameters such as flow rate, head, and power output.
- Ensure the safe and efficient operation of plant equipment.
- Perform routine preventive maintenance, including lubrication, cleaning, filter replacement, and minor component repairs.
- Assist in testing, troubleshooting, and calibration of sensors, relays, and control systems.
- Support equipment reliability and operational readiness.
- Follow all plant safety procedures, including the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
- Maintain compliance with company policies and applicable safety regulations.
- Maintain accurate operational and maintenance records.
- Assist in managing plant tools, safety equipment, and spare parts inventory.
About you
- Related course or equivalent work experience
- Experience in operation of a hydroelectric power plant is an advantage, but not required.
- Relevant training in hydroelectric power plant operation is an advantage, but not required.
- Construction Occupational Safety and Health (COSH) Training.
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering
