Position Summary
Estimator primarily involved in the preparation of the Bill of Materials (BOM) / Material take-off. Collects and evaluates the companys data in order to estimate the costs, resources and labor needed to produce a service or product.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
- Generate a structures Bill of Materials, ensuring every item is categorized by number, description, and unit of measure.
- Perform a thorough review of plans or drawings and specifications to understand the full scope of work.
- Maintain and update a Cost Library by analyzing historical company data and current market prices.
- Update and monitor prices of raw materials.
- Suggest alternative materials or brands that meet the project requirements at a lower cost without sacrificing quality.
- Identify necessary machinery, tools and consumables required for production or installation.
- Send out Request for Quotation (RFQs) to external vendors through Purchasing and compare proposals on an apples-to-apples basis.
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Minimum one (1) year experience in the same capacity.
- Experienced at compiling and following strict budget, strong estimating and financial analysis skills.
- In-depth understanding of plans, materials, pricing and industry.
- Amenable to work in Malinta, Valenzuela City
Knowledge and Skills
- Quantity take-off / Material specification
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent negotiating and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to organize, plan and strategize.
- Proficient in computer skills, Microsoft Office and AutoCAD
- Ability to analyze financial records and apply data to improve results.
- Strong aptitude for numbers, spreadsheets and financial reports.
