MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT

  • Manage the entire Research & Development Department

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the department

  • Conduct, guide and supervise product development and improvements

  • Responsible in conceptualization/exploration of creative process, creation of new products and development of existing products

  • Ensure the products comply with regulatory standards

  • Conduct and supervise product application, trials and tests for new materials and processes

  • Manage and provide support in regular validation of existing and on-going product development projects

  • Identify and recommend improvements in product development processes and ensure compliance with standard operational procedures

  • Provide extensive information on current literature in the field of cosmetic and skin care products

  • Prepare testing solutions, analyzes organic and inorganic compounds and conducts quality control tests

  • Responsible in providing analysis and inspections of incoming raw materials

  • Capable of writing technical papers and reports, and prepare standards and specifications for processes, tests and products;

  • Ensure the laboratory instruments and equipment are tip top conditions, aids in troubleshooting malfunctions, and recommends purchasing of new and required laboratory supplies

  • Evaluate and ensure compliance with the laboratory safety procedures and standards

  • Facilitate communications among various departments involved in the product development process

  • Undertake any other related work assigned by the management

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A license in Pharmacy or Chemistry or related field is required for this position

  • With minimum of 5 years' experience as cosmetic chemist or related field from leading cosmetic/personal care and home care companies

  • With extensive background and exposure in product development, product evaluation, product formulations and calculations

  • Experience in scientific research and laboratory work will be an advantage

  • Adept in documentation work such as but not limited to FDA product registrations

  • Proficiency with computers and scientific equipment

  • Strong problem solving, critical thinking, and analytical skills

  • Good presentation, documentation, and reporting skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Pro-active, responsible, efficient, positive work attitude, good work discipline and business ethics

  • Exceptional people-skills (e.g. good interpersonal skills, being able to handle or work with a team effectively)

  • Exhibits strong entrepreneurial spirit, self-motivated, dynamic, and results-oriented
