Job Description:

The Instructional Design Manager who will be responsible for designing Digital Learning content. The candidate should have minimum 5 years experience in curriculum/instructional writing, preferably in the eLearning field.

Key Responsibilities:

Project / Service Delivery

  • Manage a team of eLearning designers and developers to conceive, design, develop, and evaluate training modules.
  • Manage multiple projects with minimal guidance
  • Review course design to ensure the quality of the content as related to effective learning design, consistency, accuracy, instructional language, and relevance to curriculum needs and requirements.
  • Facilitate creation of engaging and compelling digital learning content for business units across Manulife

Stakeholder Management

  • Build strong relationships with business partners and project stakeholders.
  • Work with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and identify target audience's training needs

Process Improvement

  • Monitor project progress and report on key metrics and improvement opportunities
  • Cultivate a continuous improvement within the organization
  • Practice and sharing industry best practices, case studies, new trends and tools

People Leader

  • Identify technical skill gaps of team member and support their professional development through a structured, formal learning plan and regular feedback & coaching.
  • Model the MBPS Values in Action as well as other corporate governance & compliance policies such as but not limited to: Code of Employee Discipline, Data Privacy, Information Security, Risk Management, etc.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum Hiring Requirements - Knowledge & Skills
  • Required:
    • Advance proficiency with MS Office Suite, and Articulate Storyline 3
    • Knowledge and relevant application of instructional theories and adult learning principles Must be able to show skills in people management.
    • Ability to work with multicultural and virtual teams.
    • Strong verbal communication, Project management, and presentation skills.
  • Desired:
    • Knowledge and experience with Insurance Contact Center and Back-Office Operations
    • Project Management Training: PMP, Agile, Scrum, etc. LEAN Six Sigma Training
  • Minimum Hiring Requirements – Experience
    • At least 5 years of experience in curriculum/instructional design
    • At least 3 years experience managing a team of learning or instructional design professionals
    • Excellent writing and proofreading skills, with attention to detail to translate highly technical subject matter to a global audience at various levels with clarity and accuracy
    • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field of study
    • Advanced MS Office Skills Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
    • Good interpersonal skills
    • Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills
    • Demonstrated strong passion for continuous learning

  • Desired:
    • Management consulting experience
    • Experience leading large, cross-functional, organization-wide, multi-site transformation and/or process and performance improvement initiatives
    • Experience working with stakeholders across different geos, i.e., North America, Canada, Asia
