The Auto Mechanic is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining vehicles according to manufacturer specifications and industry best practices. This role requires a strong understanding of automotive systems, proficient use of diagnostic tools, and the ability to work efficiently and effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Inspect and diagnose vehicle malfunctions using diagnostic tools and technical expertise.
- Perform routine maintenance services such as oil changes, tire rotations, brake inspections, and fluid checks.
- Repair or replace damaged or worn-out parts, including engines, transmissions, brakes, electrical systems, and suspension components.
- Perform engine diagnostics, including compression tests, leak down tests, and cylinder balancing.
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems, including starting, charging, and lighting circuits.
- Repair and maintain air conditioning and heating systems.
- Adhere to safety regulations and maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Maintain accurate records of repairs and services performed.
- Communicate effectively with customers and service advisors regarding repair recommendations and costs.
- Maintain tools and equipment in good working order.
- May assist in ordering parts and supplies.
- Stay current with the latest automotive technology and repair techniques through training and continuing education.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; ASE certification preferred.
- Strong knowledge of automotive systems and repair procedures.
- Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment.
- Ability to interpret technical manuals and schematics.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
- Ability to lift heavy objects and stand for extended periods.
