Insurance Verification Specialist - Virtual Assistant

Job Description

This is a remote position.

Virtual Rockstar is seeking a dedicated, detail-oriented, and experienced Insurance Verification Specialist to join our client's growing team. In this role, you will be responsible for verifying insurance eligibility and benefits, managing insurance-related tasks, and supporting our administrative operations. You will play a critical role in helping our client's patients receive the highest level of care by ensuring smooth communication between our client's practice, insurance providers, and patients.

Responsibilities
  1. Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits for physical therapy services.
  2. Obtain pre-authorizations for procedures as required.
  3. Liaise with insurance providers to clarify coverage details and resolve discrepancies.
  4. Explain insurance benefits to patients and assist them with insurance-related queries.
  5. Input insurance information from all types of insurance groups into Prompt EMR software.
  6. Coordinate with medical staff to manage therapists' schedules and patient appointments.
  7. Confirm patient appointments and send appointment reminders.
  8. Handle patient inquiries (phone/email) in a friendly and professional manner.
  9. Maintain and update patient records and files with accurate insurance information.
  10. Manage the appointment calendar and waitlist.
  11. Assist in the new patient intake process.
  12. Ensure patient privacy and confidentiality according to HIPAA regulations.
  13. Process and submit claims to insurance providers.
  14. Follow up on unpaid claims and resolve billing discrepancies.
  15. Post payments to patient accounts and track the status of pending claims.
  16. Review and appeal denied claims.
  17. Generate billing reports for management.
  18. Ensure compliance with coding and billing regulations.
  19. Maintain electronic medical records.
  20. Data entry and generate basic reports.
  21. Coordinate and maintain daily schedules.
  22. Assist patients with appointment-related inquiries.
Requirements

Required:

  1. Experience with Prompt EMR software is a must.
  2. Strong knowledge of insurance verification, eligibility, and benefits.
  3. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  4. Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  5. Experience in patient scheduling and client interface.
  6. Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  7. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred:

  1. Experience with TheraOffice clearinghouse.
  2. Knowledge of healthcare coding, billing regulations, and insurance claim procedures.
  3. Previous experience in a physical therapy or healthcare setting is a plus.
