Video Editor - YouTube Specialist

Turn real aquarium conversations into YouTube videos people find, watch, and learn from—then bring the strongest moments to Shorts and social media.

Key Responsibilities

  • Edit raw videos into compelling YouTube episodes. Remove unnecessary waiting, repetition, technical interruptions, and tangents. Structure the conversation so viewers can follow it while preserving the host’s personality and the expert’s meaning.
  • Create focused videos from individual questions. Identify answers that can stand on their own, such as choosing beginner shrimp, understanding water parameters, acclimating livestock, or selecting compatible tankmates. Include enough context for someone who has not watched the original session.
  • Find and edit the strongest short-form moments. Turn useful answers, surprising explanations, demonstrations, and memorable exchanges into YouTube Shorts and social clips. Give each clip a clear opening, a worthwhile payoff, and a natural ending.
  • Adapt content across aspect ratios. Produce landscape 16:9 videos, vertical 9:16 edits, and square 1:1 or portrait 4:5 versions where needed. Reframe intentionally so the host, aquarium footage, graphics, and captions remain readable.
  • Make aquarium content visually clear. Use relevant tank footage, species close-ups, demonstrations, labels, and simple graphics to support the explanation. Match visuals to the species or process being discussed and flag missing footage.
  • Protect the accuracy of expert advice. Preserve conditions and qualifications that affect an answer—for example, tank size, species, water conditions, or individual fish behavior. Ask the host or expert to review uncertain statements, terminology, and captions.
  • Deliver clean audio and consistent visuals. Improve dialogue clarity, balance sound levels, correct color, synchronize footage, and use music thoughtfully. Keep speech easy to understand and aquarium detail visible.
  • Create accurate, readable captions. Check automated transcripts, especially species names and aquarium terminology. Adapt caption placement and pacing to the format.
  • Support YouTube packaging. Propose clear titles, thumbnail concepts, opening hooks, descriptions, chapters, and relevant next-video suggestions. Coordinate with the design and brand teams so the packaging accurately represents the content.
  • Prepare publishing‑ready deliveries. Supply final exports, caption files, thumbnail assets or briefs, and supporting copy in the agreed formats. Coordinate uploads, scheduling, and final checks with the person responsible for publishing.
  • Support content beyond the channel. Provide clean transcripts, timestamps, and relevant clips to teammates creating website articles, FAQs, email content, and social posts.
  • Connect useful advice with relevant next steps. Where appropriate, incorporate an approved product, bundle, care guide, or related‑video recommendation that follows naturally from the topic.
  • Improve edits using viewer response. Review retention, watch time, thumbnail click‑through rate, Shorts performance, and comments with the team. Identify where viewers lose interest or need more clarity, and apply those lessons to future videos.
  • Keep the production workflow organized. Manage footage, project files, linked assets, versions, feedback, and exports. Maintain a clear queue so the team knows what is being edited, reviewed, and prepared for release.
  • Give the recording team useful feedback. Flag recurring audio, framing, pacing, or coverage problems and suggest practical improvements that will make future sessions easier to edit.
  • The Content You’ll Work On — Topics may include:
  • Choosing a first aquarium or a first pet for a child.
  • Planning beginner and small‑tank setups.
  • Shrimp, snail, and fish compatibility.
  • Water parameters, hard tap water, and remineralization.

  • Customer tank showcases and aquascape stories.
