Arup's purpose, shared values and collaborative approach has set us apart for over 75 years, guiding how we shape a better world.

Dedicated to sustainable development, Arup is a collective of advisors and experts working across 34 countries with over 19,000 employees. Headquartered in London, providing design engineering, architecture, planning, and advisory services across every aspect of the built environment. Founded to be both humane and excellent, we collaborate with our clients and partners using imagination, technology, and rigour to shape a better world.

The Opportunity

At Arup, you belong to an extraordinary collective – in which we encourage individuality to thrive. Our strength comes from how we respect, share and connect our diverse experiences, perspectives and ideas.

You will have the opportunity do socially useful work that has meaning – to Arup, to your career, to our members and to the clients and communities we serve.

The role is based in Manila office.

Your role in our team

We are seeking a Senior Wastewater Hydraulic Modeller to play a key role in our dynamic, multi-disciplinary technical delivery team. Our team works on a wide range of projects with local clients and across the United Kingdom, including wastewater treatment plant hydraulic design, network design, and catchment-scale wastewater modelling.

As a senior team member, you will take ownership of project delivery and support the project manager in managing project programmes, budgets, and quality assurance procedures within your area of expertise.

You will lead a team of junior modellers based in our Manila office and have the opportunity to contribute to the development of overseas teams across our global business. You will also lead a variety of projects from inception to completion, developing wastewater network and catchment survey specifications, liaising with survey sub-contractors, and supporting our global training programme.

We live our strategy every day: "Sustainability is everything." We actively promote, prioritise, and deliver nature-based solutions in all aspects of our work.

Is this role right for you?

We are interested in the following skills and experience.

  • Has a background in Civil, Mechanical, or any related discipline.
  • Holds a recognized engineering professional qualification (PRC license). Chartership or working towards chartership with CIWEM, ICE, or a similar professional institution is highly desirable and would be considered a strong advantage, though not essential.
  • Has at least 8 to 10 years of experience in catchment modelling, network design, and treatment plant hydraulics.
  • Has practical experience in hydraulic modelling techniques mainly but not limited within the UK water industry, specifically using InfoWorks ICM. Knowledge in Level 1 UPM water quality modelling will also be a plus but is not required.
  • Strong technical know-how in the use of GIS software (QGIS, ArcGIS Pro, or any other similar software)
  • Skills in 1D hydraulic models for risk analysis and develop solutions for water quality and flood risk benefits including storm overflows and wastewater treatment works.
  • Ability to lead and deliver wastewater network modelling projects, including model build and flow survey verification. Delivering to industry standards and specifications.
  • Has at least 3 years of experience in handling a project or design team on either a local or international water-related project.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
  • Track record of successfully delivering water projects, including collaboration with private/public sector clients and regulators.
  • Develop and review technical reports, models, supporting calculations and deliverables. Assist with bid preparation and proposals. Strong client relationship management skills. Confidence in presenting results, challenges and proposals in a productive, collaborative working environment.
