Job Description

Solution Architecture and Design
  • Develop and implement end-to-end solutions tailored to business needs, with a focus on fintech applications and financial services.
  • Prepare high-level architecture documentation, system integration designs, and sequence diagrams to define and communicate solution structures.
  • Apply industry best practices to ensure solutions are robust, maintainable, and capable of handling high-demand environments.
Cloud Architecture
  • Design and deploy cloud solutions using platforms like Azure or AWS.
  • Utilize cloud services such as serverless computing, managed databases, and container orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes) to build scalable and cost-efficient solutions.
  • Ensure cloud architectures align with security, availability, and performance best practices.
Database Management and Integration
  • Architect and manage relational database systems, including MongoDB, Postgres, and SQL Server, to optimize performance, scalability, and data integrity.
  • Develop efficient data models, schemas, and queries to support high-performance data processing and reporting.
  • Integrate databases with application architectures to facilitate seamless data flow while maintaining best practices in database management and high availability.
Technology Leadership and Strategy
  • Lead architectural design discussions and create proof-of-concepts to evaluate new technologies and frameworks.
  • Provide technical leadership across project teams, ensuring adherence to best practices for maintainability, scalability, and performance.
  • Offer guidance on software architecture and technology selection, particularly within .NET, cloud technologies, messaging systems, and databases, using established design principles and patterns.
Stakeholder Collaboration
  • Engage with business stakeholders, product managers, and development teams to translate requirements into functional solutions and oversee implementation.
  • Partner with architects, tech leads, and developers to ensure architectural consistency across the organization.
System Integration and Messaging
  • Design and implement integration strategies for financial applications using messaging technologies like Kafka and AWS Pub/Sub.
  • Leverage a message-driven architecture for real-time processing and data consistency, optimizing performance and responsiveness.
  • Assess and recommend appropriate architectural models (e.g., microservices, tiered architecture, monolithic) based on scalability, complexity, cost, and performance requirements.
Architectural Approach Evaluation
  • Evaluate the trade-offs between microservices, tiered, and monolithic architectures to guide informed decision-making.
  • Communicate the advantages and challenges of microservices, such as scalability and flexibility versus complexity and inter-service communication overhead.
  • Advise on when a tiered or monolithic approach may be more suitable, considering factors like development speed, maintainability, and operational efficiency.
Governance and Compliance
  • Ensure architectural designs adhere to financial industry regulations, including PCI DSS, GDPR, and FICA.
  • Establish and enforce best practices for coding standards, security, data privacy, and risk management.
Performance Optimization and Troubleshooting
  • Diagnose and resolve technical issues, prioritizing performance, scalability, and reliability.
  • Conduct performance testing, monitoring, and tuning to optimize system responsiveness, including database and query optimization.
Documentation and Knowledge Transfer
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of architectural designs and solutions to ensure clarity across development teams and stakeholders.
  • Mentor junior architects and development teams, fostering knowledge-sharing and continuous learning.

The Successful Applicant

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
  • At least 10 years of experience in solution architecture, including a minimum of 5 years in fintech or financial services.
  • Proficient in Microsoft .NET frameworks and .NET Core.
  • Skilled in messaging technologies such as Kafka and AWS Pub/Sub.
  • Strong understanding of Enterprise Application Architecture patterns, with experience designing scalable and adaptable solutions.
  • Hands-on expertise in relational database management systems, including MongoDB, Postgres, and SQL Server.
  • Extensive experience with cloud technologies and platforms like Azure and AWS, including serverless computing, microservices orchestration, and cloud security best practices.
  • Deep knowledge of architectural methodologies, including microservices, tiered architecture, and monolithic design, with the ability to assess and implement the best approach for specific projects.
  • Preference with TOGAF, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, or similar certifications.
