Compliance Risk Consultant role within the Global Regulatory Affairs Office (GRAO) at Northern Trust. The role provides support for the delivery of critical enterprise compliance capabilities and the implementation of Risk Assessments, Compliance Monitoring, Metrics and Reporting to execute GRAO strategy. The role reports to the Compliance Risk Manager, who sits within the Compliance Program team.

The Global Regulatory Affairs Office (GRAO) is responsible for overseeing the enhancement of risk management and controls, remediation of regulatory and audit findings, and the administration of regulatory affairs, including establishing a centralized and sustainable connection point for global regulatory communications and ensuring preparedness for examinations.
Principal Responsibilities- Responsible for supporting definition, execution and embeddedness of the Compliance Risk Assessment, Metric and Reporting workstreams.
- Responsible for supporting definition, and delivery of the necessary metrics and reports supporting operating models to enable the effective running and management of the future state.
- Work with data and technology partners to develop and implement capabilities to enable data collection, interpretation, trend and pattern identification and analysis, and effective reporting of the compliance and legal risk.
- Collaborate with stakeholders across all lines of defence, multiple business units, and senior management to create effective and sustainable technology and data-led solutions for managing compliance and legal risk.
- Support preparation for Working Groups in support of effective design and implementation efforts. Promote collaboration, consistency, forward-looking and continuous improvement approach.
- Develop materials and visual aids to help present complex ideas effectively to drive design discussion and implementation.
- Manage deliverables with a forward-looking mindset, proactively anticipating issues and defining pragmatic contingency plans with management.
- Timely escalate and relentlessly pursue resolution of roadblocks with end-to-end ownership mindset.
- Share information effectively to drive collaboration and a One Northern Strategy to enhance risk management and controls, operational excellence, and use of data and technology.
- Help shape best practices, standards and toolkit to strengthen capabilities around compliance and legal risk.
- Understanding of regulatory, compliance and risk-related matters.
- Experience in developing or supporting risk metrics, reports and dashboards, and using risk intelligence to provide a holistic risk position.
- Experience in providing strategic business insight, using metrics and data to aid business decisions; ability to identify trends and develop ad-hoc dashboards/reports.
- Knowledge of the financial services industry, especially asset servicing, wealth management and banking, and regulatory environments.
- Forward-looking and continuous improvement mindset.
- Strong problem-solving, organizational and time-management skills.
- Excellent communication (written and verbal), facilitation, interpersonal and conflict resolution skills; ability to establish credibility with internal stakeholders.
- Ability to establish trust-based relationships across the enterprise and lead toward common objectives.
- Proactive initiative with the ability to recognize complex problems and bring thoughtful questions to management.
- Proven ability to build lasting partnerships across the organization to support better decision making and risk management.
- Strong drafting skills in PowerPoint and reports, with the ability to present information to external audiences.
