Job Description

An Associate Media Director leads a unit of media professionals in conceiving and delivering innovative, well-targeted marketing solutions across a variety of media to meet or exceed clients' objectives. This includes creating and executing media plans, uncovering insights, integrating capabilities, and ensuring flawless execution.

The Associate Media Director is the primary point of contact for clients and will oversee the day-to-day communications planning and/or buying processes for the assigned accounts. This role reports directly to the Business Lead and is a member of the Publicis Media group of Team Leadership.

Responsibilities
  • Client Management
    • Establish a partner-relationship with clients by being involved in the business environment.
    • Provide business solutions through media approaches for assigned brands.
    • Overall account stewardship to ensure communication strategy and implementation align with clients' business direction.
    • Undertake key initiatives/business solutions in tandem with clients' goals, objectives, and priorities.
    • Manage clients' requests appropriately (e.g., push back on unreasonable timelines, evaluate value on ad hoc requests).
    • Take ownership for assigned brands.
    • Maintain regular WIPs, dialogues, and reviews to ensure effective work processes.
    • Improve and uphold agency evaluation.
    • Build and coach high-performing team members as required.
    • Business Partner Management
      • Foster relationships with senior business partners (e.g., creative, media owners) to obtain information that contributes to brand objectives.
      • Conduct professional briefings to partners on innovations and ensure alignment to client objectives.
      • Establish partnership processes with business partners (e.g., rules of engagement).
      • Document communications clearly and maintain rapports with senior partners.
      • Maximize value from negotiations across media owners and campaigns.
      • Manage and resolve conflicts for Executives and Managers.
      • Research & Media Applications Proficiency
        • Guide and troubleshoot for Managers on applications usage; display competency in advanced tool functions.
        • Access proprietary consumer insights or alternative sources for deeper analysis.
        • Proficient in the agency's planning approach; identify opportunities for organic growth.
        • Uphold financial policy and integrity; assist team members in reconciling media payment variances.
        • Ensure accurate and timely invoicing and resolve unbilled cases with Finance; resolve ageing matters.
        • Provide accurate monthly and annual business forecasts for assigned accounts.
        • Industry Knowledge (Consumer, Business or Brand Insights)
          • Demonstrate understanding of media/industry/brand developments and implications for the business.
          • Evaluate strategic implications and identify opportunities and threats to businesses (short- to long-term).
          • Investment Management
            • Optimize investments by medium/brand; advise on budget to meet objectives.
            • Supervise cost management across media; input action plans in expenditure reports.
            • Reconcile cost/investment variances.
            • Corporate Responsibility
              • Lead or participate in pitches; uphold the company's image and credentials.
              • Identify new business opportunities and collaborate on best-practice development.
              • Demonstrate responsible hiring and due diligence in terminations; mentor direct reports for advancement.
            Qualifications
            • 8-10 years of media planning experience with focus on strategic and operational planning and execution in regional/global accounts.
            • Knowledge of integrated planning concepts, approaches, and issues; adaptive and eager to learn in the digital ecosystem.
            • Familiar with timelines, processes, and needs of all media implementations; knowledgeable about digital tactical planning (including social and mobile).
            • Demonstrates critical thinking and problem solving; capable of working with teams, handling multiple projects, and meeting tight deadlines under pressure.
            • Supervisory skills; knowledge of various research systems; technical proficiency with media systems and MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
            • Ability to translate client business needs into action; understands brand history and strategic intent.
            • Proficient in all syndicated and proprietary media applications; keeps abreast of developments and trends in the media landscape.
