Senior Accountant (Financial Data Intelligence)

Job Description

  • The Senior Accountant (Financial Data Intelligence) will directly report to the Controller and will execute core accounting functions alongside advanced data analysis tasks.
  • This position will support company-wide initiatives by producing accurate, insightful financial data and reports that aid decision-making.
  • The role involves using PowerBI, SQL, NetSuite, and Excel to analyze, interpret, and report financial and operational data.
  • A flexible workday would run from roughly 1500-1200 or 1700 – 0200 to maximize the overlap with European and US Eastern Time work hours.
  • Ability to communicate and exchange information, collect, compile, and prepare work documents, as well as set up and maintain work files.
  • Ability to work more than 8 hours per day, as needed.
  • Ability to handle pressure during peak periods during the year.

Responsibilities:

Accounting Functions
  • Perform fundamental accounting duties, including recording and reconciling transactions, managing general ledger accounts, and handling month-end closings.
  • Ensure accurate and timely maintenance of records for multiple entities, including transaction entries, complex reconciliations, and preparation of monthly fund statements.
  • Assist in daily reconciliations, month-end closings, and compliance with local and international regulatory requirements.
  • Support accounting and tax-related tasks as needed and assist in preparing regulatory filings.
Data Analysis & Reporting
  • Create and maintain insightful reports and dashboards using PowerBI, SQL, or Excel to drive data-informed decision-making.
  • Extract, transform, and load data into visualization tools, ensuring data accuracy and consistency.
  • Identify trends and insights from data analysis to optimize processes and inform strategic decisions.
  • Present vital insights and actionable recommendations to stakeholders clearly and concisely.
Process & System Improvements
  • Develop and automate data analysis tasks, increase reporting efficiency, and reduce manual processes.
  • Identify areas for documentation and process improvements to maintain data accuracy and streamline workflows.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align data and analysis objectives with broader business goals.
Technical Accounting & Tax Support
  • Stay updated on industry trends, new accounting tools, and best practices to enhance professional and technical knowledge.
  • Provide general filing and administrative support, maintaining records and assisting in daily tasks as required.
  • Support superiors in completing assigned projects and adapting to new accounting protocols for various entities.

Qualifications (Education, Training & Experience):

  • Bachelor's degree in data science, Business Analytics, Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant accounting experience; CPA certification preferred.
  • Experience with accounting software such as Oracle NetSuite, QuickBooks, and Xero is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of data analysis principles and techniques.
  • Proficiency in PowerBI, SQL, ODBC (Open Database Connectivity), and Excel macros.
  • Advanced knowledge of data visualization principles and best practices.
  • NetSuite admin and analytics experiences are preferred.
  • Solid understanding of finance and accounting principles.
  • Proficiency in SQL for data extraction and manipulation.
  • Data warehouse and Data lake expertise are preferred.
  • AI (Artificial Intelligence), ML (Machine Learning), and DL (Deep Learning) techniques are preferred.

  • Ability to maintain pleasant rapport with customers via email communication.
