Our client is a U.S.-based painting and specialty coatings company operating through a growing franchise network. The company is focused on scaling its operations, maintaining consistent financial processes across franchise locations, and leveraging AI and automation to improve efficiency.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a Bookkeeping & AI Automation Specialist to oversee bookkeeping operations across a growing network of approximately 40–50 franchise locations while developing AI-powered solutions to streamline financial workflows.

This is a unique, hands‑on role combining strong QuickBooks expertise with advanced practical experience using Claude Code and/or OpenAI Codex. The ideal candidate can independently manage bookkeeping processes, identify opportunities for automation, and build functional AI‑driven tools and workflows.

Candidates must be prepared to demonstrate real AI automation projects, applications, or workflows they have personally developed during the interview process.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and coordinate bookkeeping activities across approximately 40–50 franchise locations.
• Maintain accurate financial records and consistent bookkeeping practices using QuickBooks.
• Review transactions, reconciliations, account balances, and financial records to ensure accuracy.
• Monitor bookkeeping processes across franchise locations and identify discrepancies or operational issues.
• Support month‑end bookkeeping activities and financial reporting.
• Establish standardized bookkeeping procedures and improve financial data consistency across the franchise network.
• Identify repetitive accounting tasks and opportunities for AI‑powered automation.
• Design, build, test, and implement automated workflows using Claude Code and/or OpenAI Codex.
• Develop practical AI‑powered applications, scripts, and tools that improve bookkeeping efficiency and accuracy.
• Explore opportunities to integrate AI automation tools with QuickBooks and related business systems.
• Troubleshoot automated workflows and continuously improve their reliability and performance.
• Collaborate with leadership to identify opportunities for operational improvements through AI.
• Document automation processes and maintain organized financial workflows.
• Support the scalability of bookkeeping operations as the franchise network expands.

Services to be Provided: The Contractor will provide full‑time bookkeeping and automation services across the Client’s franchise network. Services include maintaining and reviewing financial records in QuickBooks; monitoring transactions, reconciliations, and account balances; supporting month‑end activities and financial reporting; resolving discrepancies; and establishing consistent bookkeeping procedures across locations.

The Contractor will identify repetitive financial tasks and design, build, test, and maintain tools and workflows using Claude Code, OpenAI Codex, or related technologies. The Contractor will support appropriate integrations with QuickBooks and other business systems, document the resulting processes, troubleshoot issues, and work with leadership to improve the accuracy and efficiency of bookkeeping operations as the franchise network grows.

Requirements

• 3+ years of professional bookkeeping or accounting experience.
• Strong hands‑on experience with QuickBooks and managing financial records, reconciliations, and bookkeeping workflows.
• Demonstrated ability to oversee bookkeeping activities across multiple business locations, entities, or accounts.
• Deep practical experience using Claude Code and/or OpenAI Codex to build functional automations, applications, or technical solutions.
• Proven track record of independently developing and implementing AI‑powered workflows.
• Ability to demonstrate personally built AI automation projects, applications, or workflows during the interview process.
• Strong understanding of bookkeeping principles, financial accuracy, and accounting processes.
• Ability to identify operational inefficiencies and translate them into practical automation solutions.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem‑solving skills.
