Application Security Senior Manager

Overview

Axos Bank is seeking a strategic and technically proficient Senior Manager of Application Security to lead the secure development lifecycle across our digital banking platforms. This role will be responsible for building and managing a team of application security professionals, driving secure coding practices, and partnering with engineering and product teams to embed security into every phase of the software development lifecycle (SDLC).

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the Application Security program, including strategy, roadmap, and execution.
• Collaborate with development teams to integrate security into CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps practices.
• Define and enforce secure coding standards, threat modeling, and code review processes.
• Manage application security testing (SAST, DAST, IAST, RASP) and coordinate remediation efforts.
• Oversee third-party and open-source software risk assessments.
• Develop and deliver secure development training and awareness programs.
• Partner with product and engineering teams to assess risk in new features and architectures.
• Lead incident response efforts related to application-level vulnerabilities.
• Stay current with emerging threats, vulnerabilities, and mitigation techniques.
• Provide executive-level reporting on application security posture and risk.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or related field.
• 8+ years of experience in application security, including 3+ years in a leadership role.
• Strong understanding of OWASP Top 10, secure coding practices, and modern application architectures (e.g., microservices, containers, APIs).
• Experience with security tooling such as Veracode, Checkmarx, Burp Suite, Fortify, etc.
• Familiarity with low-code platforms such as OutSystems is preferred but not required.
• Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams and drive security initiatives.
• Relevant certifications (e.g., CISSP, CSSLP, OSCP) preferred.
