Duties & Responsibilities
Accepts and verifies completed laboratory request forms and properly labeled specimens.
Ensures accuracy between specimen labels and laboratory request details.
Assesses the suitability and appropriateness of collected samples for testing.
Receives blood extraction requests and forwards them to the Phlebotomist or Medical Technologist.
Logs specimen information in the laboratory's general entry logbook.
Forwards specimens and related documents to the appropriate laboratory sections.
Answers and redirects telephone inquiries professionally.
Processes billing for laboratory procedures and instructs patients on payment steps, if required.
Provides timely, courteous, and efficient assistance to clients availing of laboratory services.
Handles internal and external communications and document processing.
Prepares monthly reports, including income summaries, patient statistics, cross-charges, and professional fees of Pathologists.
Accurately encodes laboratory results and forwards them to the Medical Technologist for verification and signature.
Conducts weekly inventory of reagents and supplies; prepares and submits requisition forms for approval.
Coordinates with the Property and Supply Department and Central Supply Department for needed office supplies and reagents.
Maintains a clean, organized, and welcoming reception area.
Delivers laboratory results to designated nursing stations.
Records results of laboratory tests conducted for managed health care patients (e.g., pre-employment, pre-enrollment, annual exams).
Serves as data encoder for the Drug Testing Laboratory.
Handles cash advances for send-out tests and ensures timely liquidation of expenses.
Performs administrative errands and support tasks as required.
Carries out additional duties as assigned by the department head, including:
Participation in staff development activities, meetings, and hospital events.
Serving on various hospital committees when necessary.
Qualifications
Graduate of a Bachelor's degree, preferably in a medical-related field
With at least six (6) months of relevant work experience
Can start ASAP
