To further develop the Customs brokerage product in the marketplace through focus on Operations, Finances, Sales, People, Systems, and Culture in adherence to the company's policy and procedures.

Tasks and Duties:

People:

1. Train, motivate, challenge and mentor other employees.
2. Conduct regular reviews against company and job expectations.
3. Create personal development plan with each employee. Set up, plan training and follow-up.
4. Identify, develop and mentor your No.
5. Ensure all staff and positions have job descriptions, clear expectations and are working with structured development plans.
6. Review department goals and business plan periodically with staff to ensure buy-in and accountability.

Operations:

1. Ensure Operational Excellence Standards Are Met (in support of DE standards).
2. Ensure customs entries are filed timely based on our internal KPI and client expectation.
3. Ensure all classification instructions for all shipments for all customers.
4. Monitor duty deferment usage and levels.
5. Meet with local customs to discuss performance, delays, red-channels, customs developments, and plans (to adapt country per country).

Customer:

1. Participate in client QBR's both in-person (domestic travel required) and sometimes virtually.
2. Actively develop business for department through active involvement in sales and retention process.
3. Manage implementation and ensure compliance to "Standard Operating Procedures" for the client.
4. Build and maintain strong relationships with service providers and customers.
5. Ensure all new business is transitioned correctly.
6. Support sales and account management in completing RFQ's/RFP's.

Finance:

1. Ensure clean AR and no bad debt.
2. Regular review of margin and rates.
3. Department P&L – review, identify, plan.

Compliance:

1. Promote compliance in diligently following all company policies and regulations and being the role model of integrity and pride for all employees.
2. Proactively communicate with the team to ensure continuous awareness and understanding of policies and regulations.
3. Maintain a positive relationship with the Trade Compliance Manager and support all compliance efforts and trainings.

Culture:

2. Lead/set tone for the department.

Systems:

1. Promote productivity tools (e.g. Vector, process management fundamentals, etc).
2. Be open to implementing new system changes and enhancements with your team.
3. Audit of files in accordance to OPS manual.
4. Send client report requests through the available database (expo request, expo reporting).

1. Fluent in English, both written and verbal.
2. Ability to multi-task and prioritize throughout the workday while remaining focused and organized.
3. Demonstrated ability to be pro-active in thought and action.
4. Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
5. Has a demonstrated strong work ethic, and reliability.
6. 4 + years of industry specific qualification (country specific).
7. Effective interpersonal skills, including proven abilities to listen, comprehend, effectively communicate clearly and concisely to obtain positive results.

Job Specific Requirements

1. Minimum of 3 years CHB experience.
2. LCB is an advantage.
3. Global logistics industry knowledge.
4. Proven problem solving, interpersonal, communication and leadership skills.
5. Deep understanding of process fundamentals.
6. Expeditors company policies and procedures knowledge.
7. Expert knowledge of customs brokerage and/or import processes and systems essential.
8. Strong knowledge of customs legislation, especially with regards to classification, valuation and origin.
9. Understanding of ocean and air documentation process.
10. General knowledge of air and ocean transport.
11. Sound understanding and knowledge of incoterms.
12. Hazardous Materials certification (preferred).
13. Well-rounded knowledge of the customs tariff and customs system.
14. Understanding of Other Government Agencies.
15. Working knowledge and experience of the customs regulations.
