About the role

The Power Tools Technician is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, troubleshooting, repairing, testing, and maintaining power tools and related equipment. The position ensures that power tools are operating safely, properly, and efficiently by identifying defects, conducting appropriate repairs, performing functional tests, and providing technical recommendations.

Key responsibilities

  • Inspect, diagnose, and troubleshoot power tools and related equipment.
  • Perform mechanical and electrical troubleshooting to identify equipment faults and defects.
  • Conduct repairs, adjustments, replacement of defective components, and preventive maintenance on power tools.
  • Troubleshoot components such as motors, armatures, field coils, carbon brushes, switches, bearings, gears, wiring, and other electrical or mechanical parts.
  • Read and interpret repair manuals, technical documents, wiring diagrams, and equipment specifications.
  • Use diagnostic tools, testing equipment, hand tools, and power tools safely and properly.
  • Perform functional and safety testing after repairs and accurately interpret test results.
  • Identify mechanical, electrical, and operational issues and recommend appropriate repair solutions.
  • Coordinate and communicate with other technicians, service personnel, and relevant professionals regarding technical concerns.
  • Prepare accurate service reports, repair documentation, and maintenance records.

About you

  • Graduate of Electrical Technology, Electronics Technology, Mechanical Technology, Automotive Technology, or a related technical course.
  • Knowledge of power tools, electrical components, motors, mechanical components, and basic electronics.
  • Experience in repairing or troubleshooting power tools, electrical equipment, machinery, or related equipment is an advantage.
  • Ability to use a multimeter, diagnostic tools, hand tools, and power tools safely and properly.
  • Able to read and understand repair manuals, technical specifications, and basic wiring diagrams.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and high level of visual awareness.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Organized, reliable, and safety-conscious.
