Why LanguageWire, and why now
LanguageWire connects people, content, and platforms so global brands can communicate clearly in every market. It’s an AI-enabled platform plus human expertise designed to simplify multilingual operations without adding complexity: security, compliance, and scalability are built in from day one. You’ll join a truly international company with a lively hub in Valencia and teammates across Spain, Portugal, Denmark, Poland and Ukraine, where curious, trustworthy, caring, and ambitious aren’t just words on a poster, they’re how the work gets done.
This is a pivotal moment. The organization is transitioning toward autonomous, outcome-oriented product teams, reducing unnecessary layers so ownership sits closer to where value is created. Your remit: lead four teams (two Product teams, Platform Engineering, and Technical Enablement) and make engineering excellence visible in how fast, safely, and smoothly value reaches customers. You’ll partner closely with the VP Engineering (your manager), a peer Director of Engineering, Product and Architecture to align strategy, coordinate cross-team initiatives, and keep outcomes front and center.
The challenge you’ll own
You’ll combine strategic direction with hands-on credibility: setting a clear technical vision, coaching managers and tech leads, and championing secure, observable, and cost-aware delivery. Expect to remove blockers across teams, use metrics to learn and adjust, and keep communication open, honest, and focused on impact.
What success looks like
In your first 90 days you’ll set shared rhythms with the VP and Product, map dependencies across teams and land early wins in developer experience and platform reliability, backed by a visible baseline of engineering metrics. By your first year, teams operate with high autonomy and ship value consistently; platform and enablement are recognized as the foundations for speed and safety; and improvements in lead time, quality and stability show up in the scorecard.
What you’ll bring
You’re a builder-leader with a track record of scaling product engineering in complex environments, ideally during transformation. You move fluently between strategy and hands-on leadership, and you turn data into better decisions and better products.
- Demonstrated success growing and leading product teams, preferably through a transformation period.
- Deep technical grounding across software engineering, cloud platforms, DevOps, architecture, QA, and databases, paired with the judgment to balance speed and stability.
- Comfort operating at both strategic and tactical levels, switching between vision-setting and hands-on support when the team needs it.
- Experience using engineering KPIs (e.g., DORA) to identify bottlenecks, guide initiatives, and improve software delivery and team effectiveness.
- A strong partnership mindset with Product and business: you foster a data-driven culture where metrics and user feedback steer improvement from concept to release.
- High-trust leadership: mentoring, coaching, relationship-building, and clear communication.
- Excellent project management, organizational and problem-solving skills; results that speak for themselves in technically complex, fast-paced environments.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication; day-to-day proficiency in English.
The setup
This is a full-time, Monday -Friday role with a flexible schedule, remote from anywhere in Spain. You’ll lead four teams (around 15–20 people), report to the VP Engineering and collaborate closely with a peer Director. The culture is horizontal and communicative: lots of context, lots of ownership. Valencia’s city-center office is there for occasional visits and face-to-face time with a big local community.
