  • Under the CEO's office, CORE PRINCIPLE & Sustainability promotes sustainability management.
  • It has become increasingly necessary to understand issues related to human capital management, environmental management, risk management, and other intellectual capital across the company and respond to external demands. The legalization of global sustainability disclosure centered around the IFRS Foundation and regulations such as the CSRD (Corporate sustainability reporting directive in EU) are all directly connected to business operations, making compliance essential for listed companies.
  • On the other hand, "sustainability management" itself is a new concept, and within Santen, the promotion system is fragile. Strengthening this system is urgently needed to comply with regulations.
  • Within sustainability disclosure, "human capital strategy," "environment," and "human rights due diligence" significantly impact the aforementioned regulations. Therefore, the operation of specific company-wide projects centered around the Sustainability Committee is necessary.

Additionally, the disclosure of the above items in the EMEA will be mandatory from 2026, hence the construction of an information collection system and the implementation of disclosure are being promoted.

It is fundamental to group operations, and to ensure that the management understands sustainability activities and can link them to investments, a future strategy encompassing all elements of ESG is regularly formulated and submitted to the Sustainability Committee and the Board of Directors (BOD).

Promotion of all sustainability-related projects

Environmental Advancement: Promote projects disclosed by Santen as a whole, such as public disclosure like TCFD, obtaining SBT certification, and formulating and supporting the execution of medium and long-term visions & KPIs, from the perspective of the Sustainability Department.

Human Capital/Human Rights Due Diligence: Respond to increasing disclosure requests centered around securities reports and integrated reporting. Collaborate with departments such as HR and legal affairs. For human rights, conduct risk assessments involving the supply chain department.

Rating Agency Response: Address external rating agencies directly linked to Santen's corporate value evaluation, such as DJSI and CDP. To respond to the evaluation sheet, it is necessary to advance improvements in on-site operations and their disclosure beforehand, under the collaboration with related internal departments.

General Disclosure: Oversee the entire process of integrated report production and the creation of web pages.

Respond to ESG-IR and proxy voting interviews. In collaboration with legal, general affairs, and IR departments, primarily explain matters related to governance to investors and contribute to improving corporate evaluation.

Plan and hold the Sustainability Committee meetings (at least twice a year). As the secretariat, assist the main departments in smoothly submitting items related to various departments. Oversee the overall management.

Minimum Requirements:

Knowledge of products and business, experience in people management.

Experience in sustainability/CSR, corporate planning and strategy formulation, or disclosure work in public relations or investor relations (preferred if available. Knowledge related to sustainability is expected to be acquired through on-the-job training).

Japanese, English (able to communicate with global department heads).
