Security Analyst

Overview

Security Analyst role at QBE Insurance. The purpose of this role is to be a key member of the Global Security Operations team, responsible for performing advanced analysis on cyber threats using proactive and reactive methods to prevent security incidents. The role involves providing effective, technical responses to cybersecurity incidents to safeguard the organisation from modern attack methods. Additionally, the role includes acting as a technical advisor for regional managers and stakeholders, offering opportunities for professional development and access to industry-leading training platforms.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and provide expert technical support to resolve cybersecurity incidents.
• Monitor and analyse security alerts to determine causes and potential threats.
• Communicate cybersecurity incidents effectively to technical and business audiences.
• Guide and advise junior team members on accurate triage processes and best practices.
• Assist in designing incident response capabilities using cybersecurity frameworks.
• Collect and organise incident data to identify vulnerabilities and recommend remediation.
• Track and document cybersecurity incidents from detection to resolution.
• Implement defence-in-depth principles and practices for enhanced security.
• Coordinate with threat intelligence partners to correlate threat assessment data.
• Assist in developing the Cybersecurity Incident Management Plan for minimal disruption during cyber attacks.

Work Experience

• Necessary Work Experience includes: Some relevant work experience.
• Preferred Work Experience includes: Advanced understanding of tools, techniques and procedures used by modern attackers to compromise organisations; Demonstrable understanding of various security frameworks and methodologies; Some relevant security experience in Security Operation Centre, Cybersecurity, and other IT-related fields.

Qualifications

• Tertiary Degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
