Job Summary:

The Release Engineer is accountable for the delivery of LexisNexis Legal & Professional GTO services supporting Lexis and Lexis Plus applications and other services within the New Lexis Platform. The Release Engineer is responsible for the coordination and deployment of components of New Lexis Platform structure.

Release Engineer will plan, schedule, and are the gatekeepers of the software build and delivery process. Requires great attention to detail and a complete understanding of Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) process.

Accountabilities:
  1. Responsible for building, enhancing, and overseeing deployments pipelines for the Lexis Platform.
  2. Automating the deployment process for all components (frontend, java middle tier, and ML) by enhancing the release pipelines.
  3. Screen changes to ensure deployment steps are documented and quality certification meet requirements.
  4. Pre and post release communications.
  5. Lead the release and triage incidents/issues during deployments.
  6. Conduct retrospectives and/or follow ups for release related issues until closure of the problem.
  7. Create and maintain release related documentation.
  8. Fully understand the deployment pipelines for various components feature peers, shared services, frontend (LA App) and ML.
  9. Troubleshoot issues with pipelines during releases.
  10. Own the release governance for the Lexis Platform.
  11. Schedule, coordinate, and manage releases for multiple applications that exist within the business.
  12. Work closely with IT release managers and build a release calendar.
  13. Assist in project management to ensure milestone goals are met.
  14. Manage and mitigate risks that relate to scope, quality, and schedule.
  15. Conduct project related interviews such as Release readiness reviews, Business go/no go reviews, Milestone reviews.
  16. Discuss release scope and/or roadblocks in Release advisory board meetings.
  17. Provide reporting to Senior IT Management to keep them up to date.
  18. Participate in Continuous Improvements initiatives using Lean Six Sigma methodologies.
  19. Enhance release process to move teams towards Continuous Delivery / DevOps Elite.
  20. Collect and report on release related metrics.
Qualifications:
  1. Minimum 3-5 years experience in IT industry or related field.
  2. Knowledgeable and understanding of Cloud concepts and technologies (AWS, Kubernetes, and Azure).
  3. Familiar in Cloud application performance monitoring (Splunk, Datadog, Coralogix and alike).
  4. Knowledgeable in Continuous Integration / Continuous Delivery - CI/CD tools (Jenkins, Artifactory and alike).
  5. Identify key areas to automate.
  6. Knowledge and understanding of basic Unix/Linux, Windows server operating systems.
  7. Understanding of basic JAVA middleware and web server concepts and technologies.
  8. Knowledge and understanding of database concepts including basic troubleshooting, high-availability, clustering and disaster recovery, including no-SQL database.
  9. Solid interpersonal, proactive, teamwork, communication and follow up skills (verbal and written) required with different levels of hierarchy.
  10. Ability to monitor, define, analyze and resolve issues both effectively and efficiently in a high-pressure production environment.
