Description

Position Overview:
UAB Temporary Services is currently seeking a skilled Genetic Counselor to support a research initiative focused on Blood Pressure Polygenic Risk Score (BP PRS) interpretation and clinical implementation. This role plays a critical part in the delivery of personalized genomic counseling and risk communication to study participants.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct individualized counseling sessions to interpret BP PRS results and explain their implications for cardiovascular risk.
• Effectively communicate BP PRS results to participants in a clinically actionable and comprehensible manner, supporting both clinical and lifestyle decision-making.
• Provide interim follow-up genetic counseling visits every three months for participants in the BP PRS study arm, addressing concerns and reinforcing understanding.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation of all sessions, communications, and participant interactions in collaboration with the research team.
• Coordinate with investigators and other study personnel to ensure high-quality, consistent participant experiences.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

• Master's degree in Genetic Counseling from an accredited program.
• Board certification or eligibility through the American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC).
• Prior experience in a clinical or research setting is preferred, especially in cardiovascular or complex trait genetics.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate complex genomic data clearly and compassionately.
• Ability to work independently, maintain confidentiality, and manage multiple responsibilities with attention to detail.
