JOB DESCRIPTION: SOLUTIONS ARCHITECT – APPLICATION

Job Overview:

The Solutions Architect for Applications is responsible for designing and overseeing the implementation of robust, scalable, and innovative software application solutions that align with business needs and technical requirements.

This role involves collaborating with business stakeholders, product owners, and technical teams to ensure that application architectures support both current and future needs, from user experience to back-end systems. The Solutions Architect will focus on ensuring application solutions are secure, efficient, and scalable while driving improvements in software development processes and ensuring seamless integration with other enterprise systems.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Application Architecture Design: Lead the design and development of end-to-end application architectures, ensuring they are scalable, secure, and maintainable. Design solutions for web, mobile, and enterprise applications.
2. Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with business leaders, product managers, developers, and other functional teams to gather requirements and translate business needs into technical solutions.
3. Technology Evaluation: Stay current with emerging technologies and evaluate their potential impact on application solutions, including new frameworks, platforms, and tools.
4. System Integration: Design solutions for integrating applications with existing enterprise systems, databases, and third-party services (APIs, microservices).
5. Performance Optimization: Ensure the design of applications supports high availability, low latency, and high performance. Identify and resolve application bottlenecks or inefficiencies.
6. Security & Compliance: Design applications with a focus on security, ensuring solutions are protected against potential vulnerabilities and comply with regulatory standards (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA).
7. Cloud Integration & Migration: Architect cloud-based solutions and lead cloud migration efforts, ensuring applications are optimized for cloud environments (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
8. Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement in development and application delivery processes, using methodologies such as Agile or DevOps to promote faster, more efficient development cycles.
9. Application Lifecycle Management: Oversee the entire application lifecycle from design through development to deployment and maintenance, ensuring applications are built with longevity and scalability in mind.
10. Documentation & Best Practices: Create and maintain architecture documentation, ensuring clarity in technical requirements, design specifications, and coding standards.
11. Quality Assurance & Testing: Work with QA teams to ensure application testing is thorough and that the application architecture supports efficient automated testing and CI/CD pipelines.
12. Cost Management & Efficiency: Help manage the total cost of ownership of application solutions, ensuring they are cost-effective while meeting performance and scalability requirements.

Key Skills & Qualifications:

1. Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of application design patterns, software development methodologies, and modern technologies (e.g., cloud platforms, microservices, containerization, RESTful APIs).
2. Application Development Frameworks: Expertise in one or more application development frameworks such as .NET, Java, Python, Node.js, or similar.
3. Cloud Platforms: Experience with cloud services (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and architectures, including serverless computing, containers (Docker, Kubernetes), and cloud-native application development.
4. Software Integration: Proficiency in designing and implementing integrations between applications and third-party systems via APIs, microservices, or middleware.
5. Security: Deep understanding of security best practices for application development, including authentication, authorization, encryption, and vulnerability management.
6. Agile/DevOps: Experience with Agile development methodologies and DevOps practices, particularly related to continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines and automated testing.
7. Communication & Leadership: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders, and lead cross-functional teams.
8. Experience: 5+ years of experience in application development, with at least 2-3 years in an architecture or leadership role.

Job Overview: The Solutions Architect for IT Infrastructure is responsible for designing and implementing scalable, reliable, and secure infrastructure solutions that meet the organization's business and technical requirements. This role involves collaborating with stakeholders across the organization to define infrastructure needs, select appropriate technologies, and ensure the seamless integration of systems and platforms. The Solutions Architect will lead infrastructure initiatives, provide technical leadership, and oversee the deployment of IT infrastructure solutions that support organizational growth and innovation.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Infrastructure Design & Architecture: Lead the design and implementation of complex IT infrastructure solutions, including data centers, cloud environments (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud), networking, storage, security, and virtualization.
2. System Integration: Develop architecture that integrates infrastructure components (servers, storage, networking, etc.) and ensures seamless interoperability across hybrid environments (on-premises, cloud, and hybrid).
3. Capacity Planning & Scalability: Assess current and future infrastructure needs, ensuring solutions can scale to meet business demands and performance expectations.
4. Security & Compliance: Ensure that all infrastructure solutions comply with security best practices, regulatory requirements, and industry standards (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, SOC 2).
5. Technology Selection & Evaluation: Evaluate new and emerging technologies for potential inclusion in infrastructure solutions, keeping up with industry trends and assessing their benefits and risks.
6. Collaboration & Stakeholder Management: Work closely with IT operations, application teams, security professionals, and business leaders to understand requirements, gather feedback, and design solutions that align with business needs.
7. Infrastructure Optimization: Identify and implement strategies to optimize infrastructure performance, cost efficiency, and resilience, including load balancing, fault tolerance, and disaster recovery.
8. Disaster Recovery & High Availability: Design and implement disaster recovery and business continuity strategies, ensuring minimal downtime and high availability for critical business systems.
9. Documentation & Best Practices: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for infrastructure architecture, configuration standards, and operational procedures to ensure consistency and efficiency across teams.
10. Cost Management & Budgeting: Work with business units and IT teams to estimate and control the costs associated with infrastructure solutions, ensuring cost-effective resource allocation.
11. Mentorship & Leadership: Provide technical guidance to infrastructure engineers and other teams, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and high standards.
12. Performance Monitoring & Optimization: Oversee the implementation of monitoring tools and practices to ensure optimal performance, quickly identifying and resolving issues in production environments.

Key Skills & Qualifications:

1. Technical Expertise: Deep knowledge of IT infrastructure components including servers, storage, networking, virtualization, and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
2. Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS): Experience designing, implementing, and managing IaaS solutions, including compute, storage, and networking services in cloud environments.
3. Network Architecture: Strong understanding of networking technologies (TCP/IP, VPN, DNS, load balancing, etc.) and network security protocols.
4. Security & Compliance Knowledge: Expertise in designing secure IT infrastructure solutions and knowledge of compliance requirements such as GDPR, HIPAA, and SOC 2.
5. Virtualization Technologies: Experience with server virtualization platforms such as VMware, Hyper-V, or KVM, as well as containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
6. Disaster Recovery & Business Continuity: Experience in designing disaster recovery (DR) solutions and high-availability (HA) architectures to ensure business continuity.
7. Automation & Scripting: Proficiency in automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Terraform) and scripting languages (Python, PowerShell, Bash) to streamline infrastructure deployment and management.
8. Monitoring & Management Tools: Experience with infrastructure monitoring and management tools (e.g., Nagios, Zabbix, Splunk, CloudWatch, etc.).
9. Experience: 5+ years of experience in IT infrastructure roles, with at least 3 years in a Solutions Architect or similar capacity.
10. Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Network Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
11. Certifications (optional but desirable):
    1. AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional
