- A Master's degree (NQF level 9) in Biochemistry.
- A minimum of 2 years' teaching and learning experience.
- A minimum of 2 years' experience in developing scientific procedures and techniques used in a biochemistry laboratory.
- A PhD (NQF level 10) in Biochemistry.
- A minimum of 2 years' experience in postgraduate mentoring and training.
- Registration with the South African Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (SASBMB).
- Advanced knowledge of general biochemistry and human-related molecular
- Proven competency in basic molecular techniques such as DNA isolation, PCR and Western blotting
- Ability to lecture introductory and advanced biochemistry on a tertiary level with a focus on teaching molecular biology and clinical biochemistry
- Capacity to learn various teaching philosophies and adapt teaching and learning approaches as required
- Excellent computer skills for teaching and learning, administration and research dissemination
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Good communication skills (verbal and written)
- Ability to function as part of a team and in a multicultural environment
- Ability to work effectively under pressure
- Good time management
The annual total remuneration package will be commensurate with the level of appointment as advertised and in line with the NWU policy guidelines.
