Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Linux Engineer to join our team. You will be responsible for providing expert-level guidance and support for Linux-based systems. You will play a key role in designing, implementing, and maintaining Linux infrastructure solutions, ensuring their optimal performance, security, and scalability. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams and provide mentorship to junior team members.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and maintain Linux-based infrastructure, including installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of servers, networking, storage, and related components.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to design and implement Linux-based solutions that align with business objectives, ensuring scalability, high availability, and security.
  • Analyse system performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement optimizations to enhance system efficiency and reliability.
  • Implement and maintain security measures to protect Linux systems against unauthorized access, malware, and other security threats. Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards and regulations.
  • Provide advanced technical support for complex issues, investigating and resolving system failures, errors, and performance problems.
  • Develop and maintain automation scripts (e.g., Ansible, Python, Terraform) to streamline system administration tasks, improve efficiency, and minimize human error.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, guidelines, and best practices. Share knowledge with team members and conduct training sessions as necessary.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including developers, network engineers, and security professionals, to deliver integrated solutions. Mentor and provide guidance to junior team members.
  • Stay up to date with the latest trends and technologies in the Linux ecosystem. Evaluate and recommend new tools, methodologies, and practices to improve system performance and operational efficiency.
  • Assess current and future infrastructure requirements, conduct capacity planning, and make recommendations for hardware and software upgrades or expansions.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Extensive experience as a Linux System Administrator or Linux Engineer, with a focus on enterprise-level environments.
  • In-depth knowledge of Linux operating systems, including installation, configuration, and administration (Red Hat, CentOS, SUSE, OpenSUSE, Rocky Linux, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of Linux networking, file systems, storage technologies, and security principles.
  • Proficiency in scripting and automation using languages like Ansible, Bash, Python, or Perl.
  • Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, KVM) and containerization (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and their Linux-based services.
  • Solid understanding of network protocols, firewall configurations, and system monitoring tools.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to analyse complex technical issues.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Certifications such as RHCE (Red Hat Certified Engineer) or equivalent are highly desirable.
