Client Description:

Our client is an Australian-based non-bank lender specializing in finance for primary assets including transport, construction, materials handling, and earthmoving equipment. They also finance secondary and tertiary assets.

Through their Vendor Program, they provide equipment partners with a finance solution tailored to their business. They are not a bank, which allows them the agility and flexibility to create new opportunities for Australian small businesses that want to grow.

Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled Application Security Engineer to join our team. This role is critical in ensuring the security of our applications and protecting our customer's data.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct security assessments and code reviews to identify vulnerabilities in web and mobile applications.
  • Develop and implement security protocols and best practices to safeguard applications.
  • Work closely with development teams to integrate security measures into the software development lifecycle (SDLC).
  • Perform regular security testing, including penetration testing, vulnerability scanning, and threat modeling.
  • Monitor and respond to security incidents and breaches, conducting root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions.
  • Educate and train developers on secure coding practices and security tools.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest security trends, vulnerabilities, and technologies to ensure proactive risk management.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive security documentation, including policies, procedures, and incident response plans.

Key Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as an Application Security Engineer or in a similar role.
  • At least 3 years of experience in Application Security.
  • Strong understanding of web application security principles.
  • Proficiency in security assessment tools such as Burp Suite, OWASP ZAP, and static/dynamic analysis tools.
  • Experience with secure coding practices and security frameworks.
  • Knowledge of authentication and authorization protocols (OAuth, SAML, JWT).
  • Familiarity with cloud security, container security, and DevSecOps practices.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CEH, OSCP, or CSSLP are a plus.
  • Experience with secure DevOps (DevSecOps) practices.
  • Understanding of compliance standards such as GDPR, HIPAA, and PCI-DSS.
  • Knowledge of network security and infrastructure security.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages (Python, PowerShell, etc.) for automation of security tasks.
