Responsibilities
  • Management, compilation, and generation of accurate and timely Financial Statements and its required disclosure, in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and Philippine Financial Reporting Standards, including management of annual audit of financial statements.
  • Management of any Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) and other tax-related audit.
  • Management and advisory of accounting policies covering IFRS and regulatory accounting, including impact assessment of accounting rules, including IFRS 17 impact to tax and regulatory reporting.
  • Management of major annual reports such as annual statement preparation and the annual transfer pricing documentation as well as other ad-hoc reports of the statutory reporting team.
  • Assists in the assessment and evaluation of controls surrounding the accounting and automation for statutory reporting and tax accounts.
Financial Statements Preparation
  • Consolidates and prepares the Financial Statements in accordance with the Philippine Financial Reporting Standards.
  • Prepares all disclosures required and ensures their completeness, vis-à-vis the accounting standards.
  • Reviews schedules for the FS audit and coordinates with the FS auditor for any issues or findings affecting the FS.
Audit Management
  • Ensures that all requirements of the auditor/tax authority are provided timely.
  • Liaises with the tax consultant and the auditor/tax authority.
  • Coordinates with the process owners for any requirement, issue or finding of the audit.
  • Coordinates with GWIA regarding any requests or schedules in support of the accounts as well as entertaining questions regarding statutory reporting and tax.
Accounting Policies Management
  • Ensures the advisory and implementation of accounting policies and changes, including PFRS 17 impact to tax and regulatory reporting for the SEC and the Insurance Commission.
Major Reports Management
  • Coordinates with process owners for the timely submission of the annual statement.
  • Coordinates with tax consultant and process owners for the timely preparation of the transfer pricing documentation.
  • Facilitates other major ad-hoc requests or projects of the statutory reporting team.
Controls Assessment
  • Develops systems and procedures that are subject of automation and participates in user acceptance testing activities.
  • Streamlines processes to promote efficiency.
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science major in Accountancy.
  • Must be a Certified Public Accountant.
  • Strong knowledge or expertise of taxation and accounting policies in the Philippines, knowledge in PFRS 17 preferred.
  • Working knowledge in Life Insurance operations and accounting, taxation and PFRS 17.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Must have effective and excellent communication skills both oral and written.
  • Must have project management skills and ability to collaborate with people at different levels in the organization.
  • At least 3 years of relevant Finance experience, with 1 year minimum experience in the life insurance industry, particularly in taxation and financial reporting.
