The Warehouse and Logistics Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing the warehousing, inventory, and logistics operations for both outright and consignment retail businesses. The role ensures the effective storage, movement, and distribution of goods, optimizing warehouse processes, ensuring timely deliveries, and maintaining accurate inventory levels. This position also involves coordinating with vendors, transport services, and internal departments to streamline operations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Warehouse Operations:

  • Manage day-to-day warehouse operations including receiving, storing, and dispatching goods.
  • Ensure that both outright and consignment stock are properly tracked, stored, and managed.
  • Oversee picking, packing, labeling, and quality checks of outgoing shipments.
  • Implement efficient warehouse layout, space optimization, and material handling systems.
  • Maintain high levels of inventory accuracy through cycle counts and stock audits.

Logistics and Distribution:

  • Plan and manage the movement of goods from suppliers to the warehouse and from the warehouse to retail stores or customers.
  • Coordinate with transportation providers to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery.
  • Monitor and evaluate logistics providers' performance and negotiate contracts when necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, legal, and regulatory requirements for storage and transportation of goods.
  • Implement delivery schedules for both outright and consignment products.

Inventory Management:

  • Develop and implement inventory control procedures to ensure accurate stock levels.
  • Track and reconcile consignment stock, ensuring proper documentation and alignment with suppliers.
  • Work closely with the procurement and merchandising teams to manage stock levels, forecast demand, and plan replenishments.
  • Conduct regular inventory reviews to identify and minimize stock discrepancies, damage, and obsolescence.

Vendor and Supplier Coordination:

  • Collaborate with consignment suppliers to manage stock movements, return of unsold goods, and inventory replenishments.
  • Manage relationships with third-party logistics providers, courier services, and freight forwarders.
  • Ensure accurate and timely communication between warehouse teams and suppliers for both outright and consignment stocks.

Team Leadership:

  • Lead and manage warehouse staff, including hiring, training, scheduling, and performance evaluations.
  • Implement safety protocols and ensure a safe working environment for all warehouse personnel.
  • Develop and manage a high-performing team by providing clear direction, motivation, and ongoing support.

Process Improvement:

  • Continuously evaluate and improve warehouse and logistics processes to increase efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Implement warehouse management systems (WMS) and other technology solutions to enhance inventory tracking and warehouse operations.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and best practices to improve operational performance.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business, or a related field.
  • At least 5-7 years of experience in warehouse and logistics management, preferably in retail.
  • Experience managing both outright and consignment stock in a retail environment is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of inventory management systems (IMS) and warehouse management systems (WMS).
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, etc.) and logistics software.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in inventory management.
  • Ability to lead and motivate warehouse and logistics teams.
  • Excellent analytical skills for cost control and logistics planning.
  • Knowledge of safety standards and compliance in warehousing and transportation.
