Job Overview:

Ribbon delivers communications software and network solutions to global service providers, enterprises, and critical infrastructure sectors. We are looking for a Field Engineer to be part of our professional services delivery group. This position provides post-sales technical support for Ribbon's technology products. The day-to-day tasks will include providing engineering planning documentation, installation, and commissioning for each customer project.

The Field Engineer is responsible for being at customer site locations when needed, ensuring proper functionality of Ribbon equipment by following installation procedures and troubleshooting issues during implementation. This role requires strong technical skills, excellent communication, and the ability to work independently.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform Ribbon Communications equipment installations.
  • Execute project-related upgrades.
  • Conduct onsite activities such as site and network commissioning, system acceptance tests, network expansion, installation, upgrades, site surveys, NOC operation, and OJT.
  • Interface with 2nd Tier Technical Support, Engineering, Product Management, and other departments to address customer issues effectively.
  • Perform network and/or system testing.
  • Conduct hands-on/practical training for Ribbon customers.
  • Prepare technical reports and methods of procedures.
  • Coordinate with the Project Manager to align with timelines and ensure project delivery.
  • Keep customer information updated and manage reported problems.
  • Consult customers to understand their needs and installation requirements.
  • Explain system operation and answer customer questions.
  • Address customer project concerns and resolve issues promptly.
  • Observe strict compliance with customer site instructions.

Job Qualifications & Key Skills:

  • A degree in Electronics and Communications Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Knowledge in installation, testing, and commissioning of DWDM/ROADM/Optical Transport Network and/or IP networks.
  • Experience in handling transmission/IP equipment, DWDM/ROADM, OTN technology, Packet Switch, and Management System.
  • Able to conduct and analyze network tests, e.g., BERT, RFC2544, OTDR, OSA, and willing to travel to customer sites and Ribbon premises.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Problem-solving skills, self-organization, effective time management, and service-oriented attitudes are required.
  • Highly motivated and eager to learn new technologies and deepen understanding of customer networks.
  • Able to use various tools and equipment safely and efficiently, including power tools, hand tools, and testing devices.

Preference:

  • Valid driver's license, qualified to drive at least Class 2 vehicles (4 wheels).

The successful candidate must be eligible to work in the Philippines.
